Neither party is perfect but the democrats are least trying to have a sense of morality and honor. The republicans are just manipulating people with the same lies over and over yet somehow are winnibg. The whole system needs to be restarted but anyone who thinks that the republicans are the more moral party in 2017 is deluding themselves. This was the Democrats best move. Democrats can claim the higher moral ground while simultaneously not sacrificing anything. I thought they were stupid for defending him. Theyve done a complete 180 on the issue, and it is nothing but positive for the Democrats.

It's bad because Democrats are now forced to resign every time an allegation comes out. Meanwhile, Republicans still stand on waiting for an investigation and facts to be presented before instantly telling somebody to resign. The accused were both Democrats and Republicans, but the consequences thus far have been limitedand often filtered through a partisan lens. In politics, at least, what constitutes disqualifying behavior seemed to depend not on your actions but on the allegiance of your tribe. In the 1990s, feminists stood up for accused abuser Bill Clinton instead of his accusersa move many are belatedly regretting as the national conversation prompts a re-evaluation of the claims against the former President. And despite the allegations against Moore, both President Trump and the Republican National Committee support him. http://time.com/time-person-of-the-year-2017-silence-breakers/ --- Kind Regards, Darmik ... Franken was actually pretty heavily defended.
They didn't want to let him go. Go watch the view episode of the day Franken's 2nd accuser came forward. These progressive women were trying their best to paint him as almost a saint and say it was ridiculous that anyone should ask him to resign and trying to discredit this 2nd accusation. The same exact thing happened on gamefaqs. Certain users argued he didn't grope Tweeden and only did hoverhand. Some said he apologized and she forgave him and that is enough. 5 women is what happened and it reluctantly forced the party oh but ofc they will claim moral highground --- chill02 to me: you are beautiful ... 1. The moral case for not backing your sexual creeps in positions of power is clear, IMO. What Conyers was accused of seems more serious than Franken, but neither is good, and neither should be excused.
2. The politics of such a move are better. Franken's approval plummeted after these accusations began; he was an electoral liability in a fairly blue state. People like when you live up to your principles, and they fucking hate when you plug your ears to wrongdoing by those on your side. Being the party for craven short-term political calculus is a recipe for long-term turnout decline. --- kin to all that throbs ... Copied to Clipboard!

I think the hardest part for the Dems is that people expect the GOP to include lecherous old men (not an excuse, just lower expectations). The Dems typically act like they're on the moral high ground, so this stuff makes them look worse, even if the offenses are equal.
