Neither party is perfect but the democrats are least trying to have a sense of morality and honor. Go watch the view episode of the day Franken's 2nd accuser came forward.

These progressive women were trying their best to paint him as almost a saint and say it was ridiculous that anyone should ask him to resign and trying to discredit this 2nd accusation.

The same exact thing happened on gamefaqs. Certain users argued he didn't grope Tweeden and only did hoverhand. Some said he apologized and she forgave him and that is enough.

1. The moral case for not backing your sexual creeps in positions of power is clear, IMO. What Conyers was accused of seems more serious than Franken, but neither is good, and neither should be excused.
2. The politics of such a move are better. Franken's approval plummeted after these accusations began; he was an electoral liability in a fairly blue state. People like when you live up to your principles, and they fucking hate when you plug your ears to wrongdoing by those on your side. Being the party for craven short-term political calculus is a recipe for long-term turnout decline.
