When faced with a wonderful female like Tifa and having the ability to sleep right next to her as would be the dream of most men (she consented ofc), she asks him if he slept well. This would open the can of worms for lesser, immature, sexist men to make a demeaning comment.
He however replies, "Next to you, who wouldn't?".

This lets her know that she is a comforting female who makes the male feel safe around her. He expresses his interest but not in a demeaning way like saying something bad as "I thought of your chest all night long". Instead his exclamation is of how wonderful and comforting the experience was. Perhaps he would enjoy this on a more regular basis with this information in mind.

This shows he realized how immensely privileged he was, and so he closed his eyes a happy man and nodded off to sleep. This way he also expresses that he was confident beside her and for her not to worry that her presence had rendered him an insomniac via distraction. Also, his mind didn't spring him to attempt those tempting naughty actions but instead he respected her and minded his own business.
