I've just been in a Zelda mood lately.
I don't think I have
Mine is probably Links Awakening at the moment, with OOT being a close second. Although, when I get my hands on Majors Mask, I feel that will be my favorite.

My least is 2. Not a ba game what so ever, but out of the 5 I've played, it's my least favorite.

You?

Not sure.

Favourite is between Link's Awakening and Majora's mask.

Least favourite is Phantom Hourglass but I hear Spirit Tracks is even worse.

Least favorite?

Phantom Hourglass.

Stealth sections in games not designed around stealth, uh. Going through the same temple over and over again that requires stealth in a game not designed around stealth, uh.

Not sure I have a definitive favorite. I will say I like the character designs on Ocarina of Time the most.

Wind Waker is my most played Zelda game.
I also played a lot of Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks. I really liked those two games which is an extremely uncommon opinion.

Breath of the Wild is probably my least favourite at the moment but I haven't spent enough time on that game so that might change if I ever get into it.

I finished Skyward Sword but it was such a slog to get through and I will most likely never play that crap again.

Favorite is Link to the Past.

Least favorite is Windwaker. Not because Its a bad game, I just... really don't like large bodies of water in video games for some reason. They make me super nervous. I actually modified Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim to remove as much water as I possibly could.

I think "large bodies of water" present a different issue.

You could argue they're atmospheric, but they're essentially large expanses of featureless nothingness which is kind of boring to have to travel through and explore.

I don't seem to recall Oblivion or Skyrim having very large expanses of water, they had some decent sized lakes at most. Maybe there was that bit of ocean on the corner of the map of Skyrim but there is like 1 thing there and you never have to go back again.

Least favourite is Phantom Hourglass, no contest. It's the only one I couldn't even be bothered to complete even once.

Favourite one is harder; LA and WW have strong sentimental value (the former being the first Zelda I ever played, the latter the first game I bought with my own heard-earned money) but I'll go with TP.

aHappySacka posted...

Spirit Tracks is WAY better than PH. It has good dungeons, a great soundtrack, the touch controls are a lot more responsive. And most importantly, it doesn't have the Temple of the Sea King. I'd go so far as saying it's my favourite portable Zelda game.

Favorite: Ocarina and LTTP are givens. But A Link Between Worlds was one I just finished a few months ago and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Least: Wind Waker is a given, but unpopular opinion time.... I hate Majoras Mask. The time constraints eliminate any ability to truly explore and appreciate the world. Plus I hate repeating the same things over and over in games, and having to repeat hour long dungeons because I ran out of time is beyond frustrating.

Obviously I meant an amount so limited that you wouldn't be able to finish the dungeon. I wouldn't start anything on day 3 unless maybe it was right around dawn.

It would have been cool with a small rewind feature or something. The most annoying part to me was having to go through entire long sidequests again just for one little mistake. Stuff like the bomb thief and entering Sakon's hideout, where you can miss the event trigger if you're standing in the wrong spot, are where a rewind would have been nice. Or they could have just not made it so that everything is tied to such specific times. Like if you show up a minute too late to defend the ranch, you'll miss the opportunity, even though it takes the aliens like a half hour to reach the barn

some of that might be limitations of the n64 hardware tbh. it didn't rly have the capability to have a truly persistent world despite so many timed events. probably also why most of them were only like, one event per day (romani ranch, anju/kafei, etc)

i wonder what kind of game it would've been if the 64DD didn't flop, or they actually pushed it forward to the gamecube like they almost did

This could have been remedied with ease if they made saving a little better than what we got.

Then again, whenever I got to a point where I knew messing up could happen and cost me on time like this, I'd save at an owl statue, make a copy of that quicksave, and continue from one. It would still be easier to not have to put in THAT much effort for a quicksave that'd go bye-bye the moment you went to load it up.

That was, to me, the biggest flaw in the game, and it's still my favorite Zelda game. *shrugs*

It's not a bad game, just a bad Zelda game. They force this sideplot with a bunch of stupid kids nobody likes through a lot of the game. Horseback riding through the big fields was a major selling point of the game, but it takes you like half of the game to open up all the major areas of the map. The progression is slow and heavily gated. The wolf aspect doesn't add anything interesting, is tedious most of the time and is poorly explained within the game's narrative. Dungeons are very linear. The game is poorly balanced; it takes too long to get to the fun parts early in the game, but later in the game it just blasts you through a bunch of dungeons with little to do in between. Too many items barely do anything. Overall, it was obviously trying too hard to replicate OoT but failed.

bulbinking posted...

Did they? How "unfinished" was it? I feel like you could say that every game isn't "finished" to an extent. At least they fixed a lot of things in WWHD to make it a lot better. Twilight Princess' problems can't be fixed without making it a fundamentally different game.

My favorite is Link to the Past.

My least favorite is Ocarina of Time, partly because it led to the new style of Zelda games which I've never liked, and which basically killed my interest in the franchise forever (in the same way Mario 64 killed my decade-long interest in Mario games), and partly because it's vastly overhyped by children of the 90s to the point where it gets annoying as fuck sometimes.

I've gotten 100% in all of them except Triforce Heroes and Breath of the Wild, so no comment on those two. I also haven't played the BS Zelda games yet.

Favorite 2D - Link's Awakening. Everything in that game feels good, hitting enemies feels good, dungeons are fun, story isn't super bland.

Favorite 3D - Majora's Mask. I'm a sucker for side quests; I enjoy them more than the main quests. I've never seen a completion reward better than Fierce Deity mask in any game.

Least favorite 2D - The Oracles games. I'm sure they're fine games normally, but they are an incredible pain when trying to get 100%. Two playthroughs of both and a huge RNG fest for a couple of heart pieces and for some of the stupid rings.

Least favorite 3D - Twilight Princess I guess. Frankly I've really enjoyed all 3D Zelda games so far and I doubt that'll change with BotW.

I almost went with LoZ 1 instead of the Oracles games since it's just not a very good game with some pretty stupid design choices.

Also, people hate on the Temple of the Ocean King a lot, but when the whole thing is open, going for max time at the end is actually really fun and was my favorite part of the whole thing. The worst part of Phantom Hourglass is actually getting every ship part, which sucks.

Also also, people need to play Four Swords Anniversary. That almost got my vote for favorite 2D. It was possibly the toughest Zelda challenge in the series and felt great when finally making it through the entire thing.

Everything you dislike about TP can be said double for SS and even the DS games.

Just say you have bias, because objectively comparing things which can be objectively compared between the games does not put TP anywhere near the bottom of Zelda games.
