I'll need to look more into the monuments, but being reduced by half isn't as dramatic as it sounds, because of how area scales, like how 100 square miles is four times as big as 25 square miles, but seems to be only twice as big. An 85% reduction is still pretty big, but a 19 by 19 mile wide area is still a pretty large monument.

That being said, I trust Trump about as far as I can throw him. I'm naturally suspicious of anything he does, and now hearing that the 85% reduction is a Native American monument, I'm a lot more suspicious.

Truth is most of the Middle East needs to go as well as North Korea. Then we can talk about our future as one.

Needs to go?

Some people think nukes are a miracle cure.
Not at all. But we can all agree it is a few people and a few countries that are the problem.

both protected under the 1906 Antiquities Act by Democratic presidents framing them as significant federal overreach that deprives Utahans of their own land.

This I agree with. If Utah residents want to protect it then they can pass their own legislation for it. White knights elsewhere have no battle here.

Then we either need more land or fewer people. Let's get to work building new continents or let Obama build his death panels

And he talks about poes law to other people then brings up "Obama death panels."

Apparently, Sarah Palin is credited with coming up with the term "death panels."

I know that Jen's oblivious, but I didn't think even she was so oblivious to miss the mocking nature of those comments where no rational person (which, apparently, doesn't include Jen) would take the idea of building new continents seriously which, if nothing else, demonstrates how serious the other thing is.

Too bad the majority of those tax dollars are going to the elite rich and not normal people like you and me.

Except they're actually not. The vast majority of tax dollars go entitlement spending, followed by military spending. Unless you're somehow conflating not taking money with giving somebody money, which means you're operating from the viewpoint that the government owns *all* of your money by default and by the grace of the all-mighty leaders allows you to keep some of it.

Honestly, I'd probably take the actions more seriously if one of the parks literally wasn't just established within the last few years. And the size of these things are mindbogglingly huge in general.

And yeah, it's important to consider acres vs square miles. 228,000 acres is 356 square miles --- that's larger than NYC. And, quite frankly, if NYC was converted into grasslands, it'd probably do more for the environment than setting aside undeveloped land in a state with tons of undeveloped land.

The only problem here is that monuments aren't being reduced by 100%. Land being given back to the state it belongs too is a good thing, imo.

No. You can argue whether or not it should have been declared a national monument in the first place, but now that it has, it's hard to say "hey, Native Americans? Remember that monument dedicated to you? Psych, we don't care about you!" It's a touchy subject just reducing the size, much less outright declaring it not a monument altogether.

Given that the initial size is massive and the reduced size is still massive, that's weaksauce, bro. Your sauce is weak! Plus when somebody goes overboard doing something, an ensuing administration SHOULD have the right to make an adjustment. What you're suggesting is tantamount to making a mistake then figuring, "Oh well, what's done is done," and just leaving it as is. What if we took that approach to other facets of government? We'd still have slavery, segregation, etc!

Weird that Manipulative Mead is trying to "stir the pot" to rile people yet again, so unlike him. I mean, Manipulative, Misleading Mead *never* tries to claim non-racial, non-partisan issues are both partisan and racist. Why, that's totally not in keeping with a manipulative schemer!
