As an Every Contest Club member, Tifa has done really well for herself. She has 12 top 25 finishes, with three of those being top tens, including a finals loss to Edgar in CVI. She's also never really come close to getting booted, although she's struggled in recent years. Only two of her top 25 finishes have come in the last eight contests, while she'd had seven consecutive top 25s before that. With this performance, Tifa climbs in the STATS from 65.36% to 66.50%, passing Dagger and Edgar for 18th place overall. She's currently the second highest FFVII character.

Due to her recent struggles, Tifa is a decent bit worse in the New Era, although this showing helps a lot. She increases from 54.38% to 59.82%, jumping 9 spots from 39th to 30th. In the Old Era, she was at 69.58%, which was good for 11th place, between Dagger and Tidus. She was also the highest ranked FFVII character then.

I honestly couldn't tell you my list right now politics included, so if I were ranking normally:

2 amazing (ariana, cloud)
4 good (kain, cecil, tidus, laguna)
3 okay (lulu, barret, minwu)
2 bad (squall, vanille)
2 abysmal (lightning, rinoa)

all things included squall might be my #3 right now, behind ariana and not participating anymore

I just pick 4 or 5 characters every year that I want to see do really well and I push them. They don't have to be my 4 or 5 favorites.

like Rinoa might not actually be a top ten character for me

Vivi, Auron and Lulu are probably my top 3 FF characters and thus the ones I main

I failed in one of those completely and the other was out of my hands, so I'm trying to do right by Lulu now

I also like to pick a character who did poorly the year before or someone who's never made a top ten or something like that just so they can get that achievement. That's why I went with Tifa especially and Laguna this year. Rinoa has done fairly well by her standards, but I wanted her to have a run like this, too, partly because it's fun to support a character a lot of people hate.

I help Lightning because voltch and I have had a solid partnership for the last 3ish years. It helps that I like her because I wouldn't enter into a trade deal for a character I didn't like, but yeah.
