Lmao that's classic

I didn't realize you lived with your parents. Don't you have a well paying job? Is it because housing is expensive in England? I've heard things about it but don't know if it applies to the whole country or just London metro area. Not that there's anything wrong with living there, obviously.

Not really. London of course is though and some highly popular areas as you would expect but in general I'd say housing prices are reasonable. It's cheaper and less of a risk living at home though so I can see the appeal for a short term fix. Most only bother moving out when they are with a partner or with housemates I find.

Interesting! I find it funny how most other counties don't have a stigma about living with your parents into your 20s culturally but in America we are very fixated on becoming independent exact at 18 and if you live with your parents into your 20s it's really embarrassing for a lot of people or it'd looks down upon. Especially if you've graduated college or have a full time job.

Yeah I've always been fascinated with the American culture of being so independent at a young age. It's not necessarily a bad thing though.

I always wondered about that, too. You're right about it now being bad. I have seen more people doing it recently. The only reason I moved out was because of my job. Otherwise, I would have stayed a little longer.

I think it depends. Lots of people try to become independent when they literally can't afford it and it just ends up being a shitty situation. They could have just lived with their parents and contributed to the bills there while they get their shit together but there's a definite stigma about living with your parents.

Yeah I've got a pretty good job but buying a property in London is hard enough let alone trying to buy one on my own, so I'm with the parents until I can save up. I think I'm a good few months away from being able to afford one, even then it'll only be a 1 bed apartment - 2 if I'm lucky.

I'd have to disagree, unless you live anywhere north of Birmingham house prices are pretty insane across the south east

Also I'd imagine Americans are quick to want their independence because you're not as obsessed with home ownership as we are?

People are probably just totally okay with paying rent on a property if it gives them independence, even if it is at the expense of being able to own their own property anytime soon

Idk most people I know my age can't afford a house because wages here aren't great in a lot of places/industries.
