Poll.

You would think in the natural progression of things and the last few "controversial" entries would lead to an expansion, but would adding yet another game to the schedule for eight teams and risk of injury be worth it?

Every other NCAA sport and division uses a playoff system so it's not like it doesn't work.

I want 6. Why doesn't anyone else want 6? Every year so far it would be so much easier to decide a 6th team rather than a 4th. Do they not want the best two teams to get a bye and therefore fewer total wins potentially?

The physicality of football compared to say basketball is where things get tricky in the number of games though.

Not to say other sports aren't physical, but you're typically not getting the shit knocked out of you all game in basketball

That's a good point I hadn't considered

Yes, bump it up to 8 teams. Include the 5 conference champions of the Power-5 conferences, the highest-ranking conference champ from a non-Power-5 conference (if they're ranked in the top 15) and 2 (or 3 if no non-Power-5 conference champ is ranked high enough) at large bids. By those rules, the 8 teams involved this year would likely be:

Clemson
Georgia
Oklahoma
Ohio State
USC
UCF
Alabama
Wisconsin

Plus, no team that would miss the cut (even Miami and Auburn) has a realistic case to be above Alabama or Wisconsin for an at-large bid. Zero controversy, and from then on, the champion is decided where it always should be: on the field. Going up 6 teams (the Power-5 conference champions and 1 at large bid, with the 2 highest ranked teams getting first round byes) is also acceptable, but IMO not the best option.

All other football divisions use a playoff, so it's not like it doesn't work. NCAA just wants sponsorships.

I think they should be careful. There is a chance that the trend of NFL talent being hesitant to participate near the end could be more catastrophic than they think.
