Both sides are gullible and naive. The difference is what they're gullible about.

Lots of people live in internet echo chambers with no self-awareness.

For example, there are so many subreddits now like /r/esist and /trumpcriticizestrump and even just /r/politics that are just thousands of people all telling each other exactly what they already think. They actually think that sharing memes on le reddit like this is contributing meaningfully to dialogue and protest.

Now hopefully people will actually get out of the computer chair and vote this time, but who knows.

Don't need to be on the internet to do that, hell look at people who watch Fox news or Alex jones/Breitbart. They're mostly old af and still manage to brainwash themselves. Liberals tend to need the actual physical echo chamber, hence safe spaces and the decay of our universities.

But the democrats do have a chance at winning, but arrogance and incompetence might cause them to lose again.

Despite being a left leaning person myself, I still think those fox news people can actually handle an in person confrontation better. Say we were at the bar and someone made some typically right wing comment about climate change being fake or Muslim immigrants causing chaos, I feel like I could challenge that person and have a heated discussion but it wouldn't be a scandal. I probably wouldn't change their mind or anything but I also know the conversation would be kept within the bounds of that pint of beer.

I don't know if I think the same about some of my liberal friends. I feel like if I were to challenge some of their views on gender pronouns or using the term "islamophobia" irresponsibly they'd drop me in a flash and take it personally right to the grave.

Local elections are already showing a democrat pushback. That is usually a good indicator for how the mid terms will look. The same trend happened during Obama's second term, only it was a republican push back.

I want to do more to help but I don't like pestering people on the phone. :v

I think it's silly to say one side does something the other won't. Crazy doesn't have political leaning. There's plenty of people on both sides who are completely closed off to any open discussion. And plenty who aren't.
