Here's just one example that ended up in the news:

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/black-college-student-sparks-debate-hanging-confederate-flag-dorm-room-kind-weird-black-article-1.985611

You can find more examples with a google search. Or, if you live in an area in the south where there are black people and there are people who fly the flag, you will very likely see some black people flying the flag.

How do you figure the partisan breakdown of Confederacy debates looks in 2017?
Iowa was a Union state; one of its GOP representatives has a Confederate flag in his office:

https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/politics/2016/07/11/steve-king-provokes-criticism-displaying-confederate-flag/86947746/

In the Virginia governer's race, it was the GOP candidate (born in New Jersey) campaigning on protecting monuments to the confederacy:
https://patch.com/virginia/fredericksburg/virginia-governors-race-2017-monument-issue-looms

The Republican President has made a point of prominently featuring a portrait of Democrat Andrew Jackson, despite outcry from the left
https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/11/trump-and-andrew-jackson/508973/

Lincoln was a Republican, and the Democratic Party was populated by virulent racists from its inception until ~last week. But nobody is looking to die on the hill of protecting 1860 Southerners because they were Democrats or slamming Lincoln because he was Republican. Things have changed slightly in the 150 years since.

Maybe you should consider the arguments that some of them have instead of just assuming that they're racists.

For many Americans, the Confederate battle flag is an unmistakable symbol of slavery and oppression.

But for Karen Cooper, a black woman who was born in New York but later settled in Virginia, the flag embodies something else entirely.

I actually think that it represents freedom, the ardent tea party supporter says in a video interview thats been making the rounds online. It represents a people who stood up to tyranny.

Im not advocating slavery or think that, you know, it was right, she says. It wasnt, and none of my friends think it was. It was just something that happened. It didnt just happen in the South, it happened worldwide.

Besides, she adds, slavery is a choice.

I say that because of what Patrick Henry said: Give me liberty or give me death. To me, if we had went back to that kind of slavery, no I couldnt do it. Give me death.

Not neccesarily, but I also don't think she's think she's really considered they other half of why the Confederacy ultimately failed.

Like it or not, the world was quickly evolving due to a major shift towards industrialization. It wouldn't lived on it's own for long considering the fact that there governement and econony would've essentially started from scratch, as well as the fact that it's northern counterpart was far more advanced with nautical travel and trade. With time, they would've been able to produce their own agriculture goods (possibly at a much faster rate) and many other countries had many other options for trade.

Plus ya know...slavery is bad.

Edit: Saying it was just about "freedom" feels like a generic attempt to oversimplify and undermine the main arguments against the Confederacy to equating it about "personal choice."

The modern day republican and democratic parties stand for the same things and have the same ideologies as they have since "republican" and "democratic" were inceived, just like how the word "gay" has always meant homosexual, words like "sick" and "ill" have always been inherently positive descriptors and "hot" has only ever been used to refer to attractiveness. If things could change, we'd have all kinds of wacky shit going on, like the MLB Giants and Dodgers moving from NYC to... I dunno, random places like San Francisco or LA... or even LITERALLY ENTIRE COUNTRIES changing! Imagine if there were 2 Sudans or if there was no Czechoslovakia or Yugoslavia. Imagine Zaire just up and went "ya know wat? Our name's too short. Let's change it from 5 letters to 5 WHOLE WORDS!" Fucking... lol... if Abe Lincoln was actually a republican, I wouldn't want to be registered as anything but an Independent.

*had gone back

also, nope. Delusional edgelord/attention whore. She's the 6 year old girl who goes on Maury Povich on one of those "my kid is a terror and is abusive to me and I can't control him/her" episodes and talks all kinds of shit. "It's my body. I'll do what I want!" "Yeah I slap my mom! She's a bitch!" "I didn't get the XBox I wanted so I burned down the garage!" Then she gets told this drill sergeant dude is coming out to teach her some respect... "Whatever! Fuck him! He's nobody! If he gets in mah face, I'm gonna tell him to fuck off!" Then the drill sergeant guy comes out. Before he even gets the chance to yell at the kid or even get within 20 feet, she's trembling, bawling her eyes out, curled into a ball and has her face buried in her hands from terror.

Give you death? Bitch, you don't know what wanting death is...
