I'm mad at myself for selling my Litecoin, but it's a learning experience. I had 3 of them that I bought around $60, had weak hands and sold them when they dropped from $100 to like $88. I had intended to get 3 back, wasn't expecting it's price to go up so much since it's been so consistent. I just sold those 3 into bitcoin though so it's not a huge deal, just need bitcoin to keep climbing.

LTC is gonna go to $1000 soon. Should've kept those three you had.

When is "soon"?

From my understanding, basically you're able to physically print your public and private key on a piece of paper so they are totally offline and able to put them anywhere you want to keep them safe. Then when you want to withdraw or deposit more you just scan it (kinda like a QR code) and copy the address where you want it to go or be sent.

So basically it's completely offline like 98 percent of the time, thus pretty much impossible to hack. (Might be wrong about some stuff, still new to this here)

I don't know much about mining, are there any good mining guides? It might be a good idea to put my computer to mine.

Also, does anyone know what are the implications "coin burning"? If a coin is planning to do that, what does it mean for me as buyer of the coin?

I've been looking around and there are plenty of good mining guides. And, generally speaking, you're going to mine most currencies the exact same way.

The real problem is deciding which currency to mine. If you don't have a mining rig, all the well established and valuable currencies are basically too expensive to actually get something out of it.

But if you get a promising currency early, you can potentially mine a lot of coins early on which will pay off in the future if the currency becomes popular.

Can someone explain this weird "phenomenon" (not sure what to call it) that I keep seeing with bitcoin?

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/bitcoin-price/

So the price keeps "freezing" at 16,669-16,670. It's been like this for several minutes. The charts and shit are still moving, but how are these numbers so stagnant?

Bumping this since no one seems to know

It's doing it at 17,099 now

(And I know it's not a bug with the site because Coinbase is reflecting the same price)

The consensus is that the chance to buy in early and cash out and retire for life has passed. But you can still throw in some play money and make a decent profit.

It is still extremely early, especially for any altcoins that aren't the big three. Many people believe BTC will hit $1M per coin in 2-4 years.

Just think, mass adoption and hysteria is just now beginning, there are only a few million coins left to mine, more money is scrambling towards fewer available coins, the price is only going to increase at a faster rate.

Yes, Bittrex and Binance are both good altcoin exchanges. You will need to provide your driver's license to verify your identity for withdrawals

Can I actually convert altcoins to USD on Binance if I verify my identity?

No, Binance and Bittrex don't exchange in fiat currencies like USD/Euros, you buy BTC on coinbase and send it to Bittrex/Binance, then you exchange that BTC into altcoins.

You can withdraw altcoins from all exchanges directly into your wallet though, you just can't cash out into USD, only on GDAX/Coinbase and Gemini.

If you go on coinmarketcap, click any coin, then click "markets," you can see which coins are available on which exchanges and with which currency trade. For example RaiBlocks is only available on a few exchanges, so I transferred BTC from my wallet to an exchange that offers it to buy some.

So what's everyone doing now? Just holding their coins and waiting for the return on a week by week/ month by month basis or are most of you guys selling a little every day and rebuying and being really active? Just curious.

Like I've bought some Lite and little ETH and a miniscule amount of Bit, but I cant decide what I wanna do with it. I feel if I keep looking at it day to day I'll want to buy more and more when I should really just chill and maybe put a little in every month or something.

Pretty much every source I've been reading suggests to hold LTC and ETH for now.

There are some more obscure coins like IOTA or XMR you might want to put a little into if you already invested a decent amount.

You CAN day trade on other services with alt coins if that's something you want to do.

I actually did. I bought like 11 IOTA and a lot of BAT cause I heard it was a good one for the future. And a little in ARK as well. I might put a few in like one more coin and then let those sit for a year or so and see what's up. I may have a little more income to spend on a bit more of the main 3, but after that I think I'll let it sit in a wallet for a little and if I stumble upon some more extra cash I'll buy throughout the year.

Hopefully those are some decent moves to some of you more knowledgeable guys.
