No it's a software client. Just download it right from the official website. Safer than keeping it on an exchange but not as safe as a hardware wallet.

Once you download it, you have the ability to have someone mine for you at the cost of 1 Ark. It's a one time fee. At the end of every week or so, they will deposit some Ark into your account. Most give you an annual 10% of your total Ark.

IOTA - Although withdrawals are blocked for now so perhps thats why price hasn't changed so much.
ADA
BAT - just in case it explodes
POWR - Do not confuse with PWR. Exhange/sell electricity and other green energy stuff.
SNT - A chat for trading/auctioning stuff
MANA - Virtual reallity application of the block chain just because it seems to be the one doing something totally different that the others and appeals to me so I wanted to support it.

I bought ADA,IOTA as supposedly those are strong currencies that could increase in value and many sites recommend them

POWR, SNT, BAT and MANA because I wanted to invest in penny altcoins and those stood out to me and are things I'd actually want to support so no big problem if I lose money.

I started Saturday and so far:

POWR - price has gone down 5.4%
ADA - still same price
MANA - price up 160%
SNT - 17% down
IOTA - down 1.7%
BAT - 4.4% down (bought yesterday)

Its only been a couple of days so there is no strong trend but so far MANA has been saving my investment.

Go to your Bittrex wallet. Hit the plus sign on the currency that you want to deposit (such as ETH). Once you click on that hit the new address button. That will generate an address that can receive that currency. It should look something along the lines of 0x41dc70be1e9... After getting that go to Coinbase and once you're in the wallet that you want to send from hit send and then you can put in the amount that you want to give to that address

For anyone interested in altcoins. I highly suggest to buy MANA.

It doubled its price in 4 days but it is an altcoin which means it was very cheap at 0.05 and now is at 0.10

I should have bought more of it at the time =( wish I could just put a lot of money in it (and risk losing it) but sadly I can't.

I read somewhere that tranferring coin via GDAX will save you some money if you want to transfer to a wallet/GDAX. True?

Additionally, is a desktop wallet significantly safer than a web wallet? What about a hardware wallet like a Nano Ledger?

When you create your 2FA you are given a secret code that allows you to generate it on any other device in case your phone is lost or damaged

I've looked into this a bit. Is it worth it to do it if you only have a little ARK? I only have less than like 6 and am curious if it's worth doing it since it might take me a while to earn back the 1 ARK I'm giving up.

Also a question for everyone. Does the $750 weekly limit on coinbase for credit cards slowly come back to you over the course of a week, or does it come back to you all at once? Just curious because over the past 3 days my balance for my weekly limit has risen but I spent my initial 750 bucks a few days ago.

Just wondering why that would be

@NoMeLx22x - no then. It's an annual 10% interest so you would only make 0.5 Ark if you staked for a year.

It will never say pending on the receiver side, only the sender. Personally I've seen it take as quick as 5 mins and as long as 2 hours.

Thanks man, so does it just make sense to get one hardware/offline wallet for all coins to hold it for as long as needed? And which one is the best for that? The Nano? That one holds all alt coins right?

I have a Nano s and to my knowledge it does not store every alt atm. It does store a good amount of them however.

It's cheap but it has the 4th highest market cap, so it's not like it's going to follow the same trajectory as Bitcoin necessarily. Current market cap of BTC is $287B, XRP is $18B. If XRP matched BTC's market cap today one XRP would be worth $7.33.

Can't say for sure how XRP will pan out, just saying that it's not going to $17,000, that would require a market cap of $750T.

What if two competing block chain technologies are starting off at the same time with the volume...? What determines the value?

My understanding is a coin would only die if the peer-to-peer block chain dies.

My understanding is there will be dominant coins with dominant peer-to-peer block chain network that will establish global currencies and give people globally a network to exchange current even in very remote places with less government meddling.

Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.
