Way I see it breast feeding in public is like farting in an elevator. Sure its natural but you know it makes people uncomfortable and there are easy ways to avoid it if you make the tiniest bit of effort.

Hard concept to grasp I know, but infants require much more frequent feeds than fully grown adult males.

Why do people act as if babies are never hungry, then they're suddenly fucking starving and if they're not fed in that exact minute they will die or have brain damage?

Assuming your baby truly needs to get breast feed every hour, or every 15 minutes, or every other time interval.. plan around it. This about something like this: 'Ok, I just pulled out my boob and administered boob juice to you. Now let's go on with life and in around 58 minutes from now I will find a convenient place to pull out my boob again and administer boob juice directly on your mouth again'. Easy!

Assuming your baby truly is a mavel of nature and needs to be fed constantly, at random time intervals nobody can predict or plan around, and it will DIE or get sick if you wait even one minute to pull out your boobs... what about bringing a blanket, towel or piece of cloth with you? It's that easy.

The whole 'not dying from starvation or having terrible health consequences because the baby didn't eat' argument doesn't hold up when all you have to do is walk a couple steps somewhere convenient because you planned things like adults should do or you actually had the common sense to bring a blanket/towel/scarf/big handkerchief with you.

The question in the original post is "was the woman in the right?" It's legal for her to publicly breastfeed in California, and her baby was hungry. So yes, she is in the right. If people want to shame her for it that's up to them but she has every legal right to feed her child in public.

It's kind of vague about how she was shamed. Did these women say something to her? Look at her the wrong way? What did they do to deserve having their faces go viral under the premise of being anti-breastfeeding? I mean this lady has a right to feed her son, duh, but I don't get why she's being an asshole about it. Why not just feed your kid and not care what people think? Why do the whole "oh you dont like what I'm doing? Well I'm gonna take a picture of myself doing it right in front of you! IN YOUR FACE!" thing

Sure, if you are somewhere that its going to be like 30 minutes before you can feed, there may be no helping it. But in Disneyland you are never more than like 5 minutes from a bathroom.

If they're not covering their breasts and are clearly visible to bystanders, I don't think it should be protected under public indecency laws. Now if they're covering it what a towel or other piece of clothing, I still think it's disgusting public behavior, but if the law says they can do it, who am I to argue.

Thats what Im laughing about.

You want us to plan our days down to the minute around a feeding schedule.
It isnt that predictable, babies dont always latch on at first so you cant really get it down to the minute. They dictate when theyre hungry not your schedule.

Even if we could, we shouldnt have to plan these strict schedules when big breasted women can easily enough pull one out, or deal a blanket over our shoulders and then breastfeed. It shouldnt be such a problem its actuakly childish that some people cry so much about this.

I'm pretty sure most breastfeeding moms are well aware that it makes some people uncomfortable, but random peoples' comfort level does not take priority over feeding their baby. That's what I don't really get about people who complain about it. Like how self centered do you have to be to see a woman feeding a baby and try to make it all about you

Could just breast pump and carry the breast milk around like plenty of mothers do... It's largely not a big deal either way, but if they feel embarrassed or shamed for it (which people are legally allowed to do), then just avoid the issue and carry the breastmilk around.

It happened to my wife once, and only once, at a pizza place. She had a blanket over her and everything but some jackass rolled his eyes at her and said, "Oh come on. We're trying to eat here." I wish I had thought of a snappy comeback in the moment but she and I were too surprised to even bother responding to him.
