yeah I got honor roll a few times. most of the times I barely missed it though as math wasn't a good area for me. and annoyingly a few times my math grade was good enough but then I slipped in another area just out of the honor roll area.

never heard of the merit roll though.

Pretty much every semester. If I didn't have an A average, I'd be grounded.

for how long? my mom wasn't that strict on the grade itself, as she only grounded me if I got a D or lower (rest of grades didn't matter, it only took one D or F) but i'd be grounded until the next progress report/report card came out

No, I never cared about anything until my senior year, then I just made sure to have a B average. Our history class won a regional contest (no recollection how) to have Gob perform at our school though (during the height of their popularity).

I was one of the lucky ones. I almost never needed to study. if I had maybe my math scores would have been better. advanced world geography was the first class to make me study. I would have failed otherwise. i'm bad enough about memorizing locations on a map aside from major ones. but we also had to learn each countries culture, what type of government they had, exports, imports, what their cash crop was etc.

on the first day of class we where informed that the next day of class we would have a 75 question test and it would indeed count towards our grade. and we did. had one day to learn 75 city locations around the globe

lol I've never studied a day in my life. I have a decent long-term memory, and I remember doing a biology exam and knowing roughly what the page with the answer looked like in my mind and just trying to read the word in the fuzzy image I was picturing. It took me a couple of minutes of deep concentration, but I finally pieced it together and I got the question right. It was pretty awesome.

The teachers liked me and I did well in anything that wasn't math-related (I averaged around 50% in math except when my wrestling coach was the teacher, then I mysteriously had a B), so I'd always make up for my half-assing of things on test days. If my grades stayed about 70%, my mom was pretty much cool with me having excused absences several times per month. I just did enough to get the minimum for university consideration and that was that.

also to add, i'm apparently really good at guessing through most things multiple choice. literally made a 100 on a test for a book I didn't read. guessed my way through the last 25 out of 100 questions for a final once and passed (fell asleep and woke up with 3 minutes to finish) and my senior year I dropped out and went to adult highschool which gave you a test on the first day of class, if you made a 100 you got a A and didn't have to take the class. made a 100 on two different social study classes, and while I was a straight A history student I know I wasn't that good at it. also I guessed my way through my drivers ed test, but most of that just seemed like common sense answers.

Was on the honor roll for as many years of school as it was available (middle school onwards, I think?), and a lot of semesters was on the high honor roll.
Also got an award for having top 10% SAT scores in my state, Social Studies Olympiad medals for top score in my school (twice), Spanish Honors Society (didn't give a shit about the Spanish language, but the classes were just so easy despite being honors/AP level)...
Probably other stuff, don't even remember it all anymore.

Would really depend on the issue. It could last until I was able to demonstrate things had improved in those areas, which sometimes meant not until the next report card.
