TL;DR: Corker's 'yes' vote on the tax bill is contingent on an amendment that hikes taxes back up some if economic growth promised by the bill doesn't materialize.

Senators, the chamber of commerce, kochs, all oppose it. And of course they do: it's "just a protective measure" but one that will absolutely occur in the event of the bill's passage with it; the promised growth is a lie and the increased profits will simply be given to shareholders to maintain lofty stock prices.

The key: the people opposing it? They're voting for ANY bill at the end of the day, because they know they need a win.

Seems an easy win for democrats here: oppose the measure, let it fail as many GOP senators don't vote for it, and lose Corker's vote on the final bill.

Corker + Johnson + one other = delayed bill. If Jones then beats Moore, dead bill.

Any tax cuts are going to be disastrous, unless spending is also cut.
We really need a balanced budget amendment, badly.

I really hope Jones wins. for many reasons, but the tax bill is a huge issue

I'd honestly like to see how popular this bill is in Alabama. If it's drastically unpopular then insisting they need Moore to pass it would actively drive voters away from him, added on to whatever effect these rape allegations have had.

I would think Flake would be the other person to rely on rather than Johnson, who GOP leadership feels they can bring on board (along with Daines)
