In Persona Q I completely forgot skill cards existed.

In kid Icarus Uprising weapon fusion was...above my head lol. Never quite got how the intricacies worked.

Like half the entire fucking game in Xenoblade Chronicles X. A complex web of mechanics + stupidly small text and yeah your gonna miss stuff.

The first playthrough of Star Ocean 3 I skipped the tutorial for crafting. I was like 10-11 and quickly decided to nope on out of there.

Other than that I know there's more I'm not thinking of but can't recall. All children stuff in Fire Emblems I disregard and just don't touch. I did on one playthrough and broke the game. Skipped it on all the rest.

XCX - probably used Overclock less than 3 times after 200+ hours. I eventually equiped a time extender and quickly learned what I had to do. Basically a new game lol

S3&K - Didn't know about insta shield

Tales of games - Cooking, but less of 'didnt know how's and more 'cant bother with it'. Now most the time it's automatic

Oh man, the game sucked at teaching you how to play. Even reading through the electronic manual only served to help a little. Had to do a lot of my own research to get to the point I was confident that when I won a fight, it was on purpose.

Even then I ignored some of the mechanics like elements on armor, augments etc. Everything had pros and cons to balance and I was never really sure if I was helping or hurting myself. I had a great time with the game in the end, sublime combat system once you discovered how it worked (still never re-arranged soul voices or any of that stuff though) but I opted to focus the story because I didn't even want to know how deep the rabbit hole was going to go if I started looking into post-game content.

Yeah. Its what turned me off on the game. Fucking beautiful world but the story and user friendleiness needed a lot of work.

Also sound options.

Light/Dark weapons in Eternal Sonata. After looking it up I'm still not entirely sure how they work, so I always just stuck with neutral while playing.

Updating my guns in Persona 5, except for like, endgame or whenever the game gave me a free one. I didn't know how to make money efficiently at first so I could only barely afford weapon and armor upgrades most of the game. I'd nominate Iwai for least useful Confidant if Ohya didn't exist. >_>

They are all cool and useful, but yeah aard just outshines all of them in combat.

Knockdown to insta-kill. Why bother burning or stunning them? Yrden trap is only useful for wraiths.

Only quen comes close.

But on thaaat note: secondary forms of signs.

They do explain it but all 3 sections of the tutorial on it is spread over ~6-8 hours of content. Meaning yeah, you'll probably forget some of the stuff because they throw so much at you in each tutorial.

Truth.

Ammo crafting was almost pointless because you only made a couple bullets at a time, and it used A LOT of resources. It was far more time efficient to just wait at Vendortron and buy ammo as it comes up for sale.

Food crafting was garbage as well.

Literally the only decent item you can craft is the Bottlecap mine.

This for the most part. Couldn't even beat the final boss I was so bad at the game. Then I made improvements to my build and learned overdrive. Beat the final boss in 5 minutes. Then post game, now I can beat Luciel the Eternal in 5 seconds, and Telethia Endbringer in 7 minutes. Gravidius legit takes a half hour though....

its easy when you realise that its hardcore rng based, but you can cheat by using Jecht Shot once for an easy score and then hiding behind your own goalie to bug out the AI

although with the required match sometimes you just outright lose, as in they get the ball first and they just outplay your shitters until they get a score even though you havnt been able to control anyone even once

FFVIII junction system

Pretty sure I skipped the tutorial the first time I played and then never used it for that entire playthrough.

Granted, I was nine.

Beyond that, I tend to not use crafting systems until endgame in RPGs, until making very strong gear is needed.

Also, fuck everything about that one jewel system in I Am Setsuna.
