Seriously considering purchasing this as opposed to just you know

Acquiring it. Worth the dollaz? Also do Ubisoft do refunds like EA do if games are garbage?

Yeah, it's pretty great. The combat is greatly improved, the setting is quite different than the rest, and the chariot races are awesome. I love how much death and destruction some races offer.

Would I enjoy it? I like my action RPGs but never been a fan of the series especially with the whole scifi nonsense.

I'm tempted to buy it, but I feel a little ripped off considering they're talking about how it's at 39.99 as a black friday deal, p sure it's been at 39.99 like forever

The story brings some of the scifi stuff back (bleh), but I'm a sucker for Roman stuff, so it grabs me that way. If you're into history at all, you'll probably find a way to appreciate it. Though even not, it's still interesting on its own merits. It seems more RPG-like than previous entries, but at its heart is still an open-world action game.

I bought AC Origins today. Still haven't played it but I'm a huge fan of the series. I'm sure it's probably worth it.

Its possibly the best... too early to make that claim with new game hype still present. Black Flag is my favourite otherwise.

Decent little game, although the not being able to jump at will sucks like hell. What's the actual point if everything's just automated?

Also the combat could be a bit meatier, enemies feel a bit flimsy for my liking

Aside from that mehhh not bad

I agree with this, but I miss the "finishers" from the earlier games.

You still get finishers, but they seem more limited in variety and frequency.

My fucking god

No quicksave feature? I've been cleaning out a fortress for about 40 mins, decide to go downstairs for a break by quit to title and when I come back I'm outside the base and I haven't cleared out shit

The bases don't remain cleared, any way.

And any progress you make (killing captains, opening chests) is saved as you perform them, so I don't see an issue.

The regular soldiers aren't the objective. Captains, commanders, and chests, are. Those get saved.

I'm having a bunch of fun with it. I realized how objectives work early on, though, so that's probably been a factor.

Oh.. What I meant is there anything specific about the objective system that you'd like to share to somebody who may not have figured it out?

Or is there nothing in particular you "figured out"? You just generally learned the system quickly

Each location has a set of objectives (finding treasure, killing high-ranking enemies, etc.). They pop up automatically when you enter a location, but you can also bring them up by holding L3.

Once you've completed a set of objectives for a location, that location's marker on the world map will become opaque.

Also if I'm sneaking around killing soldiers in a base do I need to hide bodies from other soldiers who may be patrolling?

I normally dump bodies out of sight in high vegetation so they don't get seen, am I just wasting my time and would they simply walk past dead soldiers without batting an eyelid?

Eh, it's not really necessary.

I'd recommend using Senu to pinpoint the alarm in each garrison/outpost so you can set a trap on it.

Yeah I've started doing that.

Am I the only one who has trouble doing this though? Everytime I go up to a brazier and press LB Bayek just keeps unsheathing his weapon, idk if I'm supposed to go right up to the damn thing or be a few feet back

Meanwhile somebody's spotted me and I'm taking arrows to the back whilst I'm trying to set a trap on the thing

I'm pretty sure you use triangle to set a trap.

Topics like this make me wonder if reviewers who give games bad reviews, or even middling reviews, to games that garner higher scores on other sites, don't how to play the game they're reviewing.

Not saying AC: Origins deserves good reviews, or that TC isn't entitled to their opinion, but it sounds like they could stand to try to figure the game out before saying it's "meh" or whatever.

But I haven't played it yet. Looks promising from what I've read/watched. Just bought Nier: Automata, maybe when I finish that, I'll check out Origins.
