i own one but as time goes by...it seems like microsoft would prefer the console to die out and the xbox to simply be a pc gaming service

which means as it stands the console right now isn't doing anything impressive to lure in new customers when they could play those games on pc

I see no appeal if you already have a PS4 and maybe a computer set up for games.

they probably make more money off the sell of consoles. I mean you got all these different computer companies making PCs. they get the lions share of the money for the sale of said PC. (actually dunno if MS gets any, but I assume they do being the OS for them) but with the xbox its their product 100% so they make more money.

I've refused to buy an Xbox since the original was announced because I was leery that MS's goal was to try and slowly merge the aspects of console gaming closer to PC gaming until there wasn't a point in having consoles anymore. Since computer gaming is utterly dominated by windows PCs, it'd be beneficial to them to do so.

I didn't expect the other major console companies to gleefully join in the destruction of everything that made console gaming preferable, though -_-
Sure was nice when you could buy a physical product, pop it in, and it'd just fucking work, bugs tested and removed, and no patches or other bs before you could actually start playing. No DLC, everything's on disc/cart and included. When I got my PS3 and had to sit through an hour of updates before I could even use it, a part of me died inside. :(

It's the most powerful console, but cheaper than a gaming PC.

It has less exclusives than the PS4.

And a smaller online community than the PS4.

And you still have to pay for online.

I personally don't care about Halo.

If I was going to spend that amount of money I'd just save up for a gaming PC.

I don't know what nostalgia fantasy you're remembering, but back in my day computer games still came filled with bugs. They just never got patched.

Perhaps that's why I stick almost solely to console gaming.

i kind of feel like microsoft is trying to pull off what value is doing with steam, but for the console. you can play your xbox, 360 and xbox one games in one place. older games get updated patches to 4k or 1080p resolution. If you want to play new games you can just log into your account and play them on any pc and then when you come back home your save will transfer to the console

that's the only appeal.

ps4 is like "buy our ps2 games again and we now have trophies for them. Oh you want to play ps3 games well... you can buy the remaster game or subscribe to our streaming service... i hope you have great internet."

to that note ps4 has better exclusive than xbox. and that's why they are kicking butt right now. also i feel like ps4 has better digital sales.

Cos we like cheap hardware that's 5 years old. my ps4 heats the room good with the doors closed! Its a feature not a bug. ;)
