He hadn't any shown any powers until the end of the first movie, iirc. So if this is a direct sequel, it makes sense.

Can't say babies are a great way to get me excited for a movie but I liked the first one quite a bit.

I actually completely forgot about the stinger at the end of 1, I was more thinking along the lines of the fact that both his parents are supers, but then we don't know whether it is hereditary since both Vi and Dash's powers are completely different.

Yeah. They had thought he didn't have any powers previously (as Mrs. Incredible stated), and all they could see as Syndrome was trying to abduct him is that "something" went wrong and Jack Jack started falling.

At least, IIRC.

I doubt this footage will be in the movie. Pixar often does that.

Incredibles 1 had a teaser of him trying to put on his super suit while his wife called him for dinner and I don't think that specifically was in the movie. Ratatouille had this frantic kitchen chase with all of the chefs trying to catch/kill Remy (bastards) which wasn't actually in the movie.

Jack-Jack put on a mask at the very end of the movie to fight the Underminer, so I assumed at that point the family knew he had powers. Also, Rick Dicker knew, so he probably would have told the family at some point afterwards anyway.

It's likely they put that in the trailer to help people who didn't remember all the details of the first movie (it's almost been 14 years!) or who simply didn't watch the first movie at all. I'm guessing the plot will focus on Jack-Jack, so it's just meant to bring people up to speed about what the status of the character is.
