The recent re-release (or something to that effect) of Civilization III on Steam or some shit has prompted me to blow the dust off of one of my earliest modding projects and clean it up for an official release. If you've ever played Brave New World, you know what to expect with what I've done to the game. I am officially classifying this as a beta release until I can clean up the included Readme, get some screenshots, and decide what all else I want to do with it.

I would ask anyone who plays to please read through all of the in-game help files, not just because that's how you find out what all is different in the mod, but because A) I need feedback on how helpful it is, and B) there's probably a mistake in there I missed, and even more probably a lot more than that. Please check all of the links in particular and make sure that they resolve to valid pages (I did mention that I re-wrote the entire in-game help system from scratch, right?).

I loved BNW, I might have to pick up Civ 3 just to see how it mods.

I think one of my favorite fan mods has to be Mantera's Lords of Magic rebalancing. Gives that game a real kick in the ass that it needs. Shit, I might go play right now.

Steamworks?

Steam Workshop is where you can upload and download mods for the Steam game, and easily (in theory) add them to the game. Apparently Civ 3 and 4 don't have this Workshop.

Also... you aren't by any chance the same Amuseum that's hacked apart Final Fantasy Legend 2?

Dude, thank you so much for your work. You've contributed a LOT to the FFL community, and I really appreciate it. I've actually toyed with the idea of making a FFL2 mod myself since your disassemblies give me all of the information I'd need.

So, unfortunately, removing buildings from the index messes with the city view screen... something I realized when I had a look and thought, "hmm... I don't remember building the Pyramids". I do kind of want to find whoever coded Civ3's editor and punch him in the ovaries for about twenty minutes since rectifying this error is NOT easy and the damn thing shouldn't even have a delete option in the first place since half the shit in the game is hard-coded to index number.

While I was at it, I also changed around the civ traits a bit more (reverting several of them to their vanilla settings) because it bugged me that the civs didn't match up with the wonders that they actually built. I'm in the process of rewriting the civ-specific tips based on those changes as well as adding more information to the QuickRef card and making it a nice little printout.
