Were sad to inform our players and our entire Marvel Heroes family that Marvel Heroes Omega will be shutting down. The Marvel Heroes servers will stay on until Dec 31, 2017, and well be removing real money purchases as soon as possible. Players will be able to play the game entirely for free once this sunset period commences. We will share the exact date things go completely free as soon as we can.

Weve had the privilege of entertaining and collaborating with our players for over four years. Were extremely humbled by that privilege and wanted to get this message out: Thank you. Thank you to our players, our tireless employees, and everyone involved in the life of Marvel Heroes, Marvel Heroes 2015, Marvel Heroes 2016, and Marvel Heroes Omega.

game was basically dying anyways due to no new content but new characters and costumes, but now it should have a surge of people doing stuff before it shuts down

now is your time to play whatever character you want in any costume without spending a dime

well not now now, but whenver the switches is flipped

I remember dropping like 200 bucks on avengers alliance 2 only for it to fucking shut down a month later. this had some maaaaad spending oppertunities too right? bet fuckers have spent thousands on this game. damn I feel for them.

God, I fucking hate "spin a negative thing as a positive" terms like this. Just call it what it is, nobody's going to think your shutdown is a good thing because you call it a "sunset."

Good thing I never started up the PS4 version despite downloading it. Will delete ASAP.

Loved it when I played it on PC years back.

Why the hell would you even port the game to PS4 if you're doing so poorly you're in risk of shutting it down less than a year later?

some speculate the console port is what killed the game

obviously the work they put into make a port took away dev time for actual new content

they also did a big patch on pc to align it with the console version which made many players leave as they felt it broke the game

Marvel pulled the license. Though as mentioned the console port made the game worse

That's a shame, I knew the company was having some turmoil in the background, but it didn't seem like anything that would cause an outright shutdown (but rather just a change in management).

Hmm, I wonder what this does for my Steam achievements? I'd rather have the ones for Marvel Heroes wiped completely clean and removed from my account then have unfinished ones lingering there forever. In-game achievements I have no qualms with, in fact, this is probably my best chance to unlock that one Gambit costume (aptly called the "End of the World" Trenchcoat) because I'll be able to access the stuff I couldn't do before (like getting all heroes to max level/beat them with Doctor Doom, etc) if they're serious about giving *everything* away for free as the end times approach.

Sad irony, they were working on an Apocalypse related event last I heard, but I don't think they ever got around to adding it in for the PC version (and now it will never happen).

Oh, ha, what do you suppose the odds are of them pushing out a last-minute patch that re-enables the Fantastic Four and Silver Surfer (and all related costumes) just to give the finger to Disney and Marvel?

the game lost it's appeal a long time ago. I wanted new chapters in the campaign. but they never came. they just kept making a billion characters

if there making everything free, wonder if i can platinum it? probably could knowing how much i play unless there's caps in place.

Nuuu I was hoping Carnage would be playable on the PS4. He was literally the only reason I downloaded the game. But at the very least during my wait I was able to run around kicking people in the acorns with Squirrel Girl :3

It was a fairly fun game from what I played but I would NEVER spend any money on these free to play games. They're fun weekend diversions but nothing more than that.

It's a shame for people who invested in this though. Could end up being a lot of time and money wasted for some.

I spent some money on this
but I got its value back in play time long before this

haven't really played this game in months

mainly my favorite mode got wrecked

which was the patrols

used to you could spend hours just do them and farming gear and it was actually fun

now there is basically no one around and it seems more a design reason than players just didn't want to do it anymore

no, they had a separate team of players that got exclusive access to internal builds, which i was a part of

To be fair, you can still buy DLC on the X1 as well. I don't think this is Sony's or MS's fault, rather Gaz not pulling the DLC, which is scummy, but par for the course at this point.

I too have invested money in to this game, though no where near to the extend of others. I have read success stories of people getting refunds for purchases made the last 90 days after contact customer support of MS, I'm gonna give that a go aswell. Should net me around 40 bucks I wager, so if I can get that back and spend it on something else, I'd be happy.
