Its not clear why GameStop is freezing the program, but employees have speculated to Kotaku that some of the companys antiquated computers werent equipped to handle it.

Having seen the POS systems at other places I can definitely believe it

I have a feeling that they also underestimated the number of people who would be interested. How many *good* used games can one store hold at any given time? 20? 30? I get the feeling some stores were going to end up with some people feeling like they were ripped off because they can never find a used game of any quality.

That was my thought, perhaps everybody will rent out our stock and theres not gonna be much left for our regular customers or the other Pass holders

I mean, the computers were handling it fine. Theres just alot of hoops to jump through, but it seemed like they found ways to make this work

Part of the process was they actually send your account a code, and we use that code as part of the return to verify it.

Its...a stupid step but like I said, its a workaround for the system.
