I'm curious also what's the longest anybody has used one computer. For me, I think it was something like 13 years, but I didn't use it as my primary PC for all that time. Still, I think that's pretty impressive. It only got replaced in the middle of that time because it was just too outdated. Every computer I had since then had to be replaced because it broke.

Well, most purchases were because something broke. I kinda wind up with a new computer at least every 5 years. Granted, I'm still *using* the damaged laptop as my primary at home and I likely will for the forseeable future because I hate changing computers.

The other stuff I bought more recently is just kinda stopgaps because I'm not ready to move on yet and I don't want to get it repaired in case stuff gets lost.

In general, I just had kinda shit luck with the last two computers. My PC I bought in 2008 basically died by 2011 or 2012. The laptop I got to replace it wound up suffering structural damage within the first 2-3 years before the chassis broke. Given the run of bad luck, I don't have high hopes for the next one I buy so it's not like I'm in a hurry to truly replace it although my most recent laptop is reasonably good and, if the primary home laptop fails completely, I could probably rely on that for months until I find something I like.

Every computer I've ever replaced has been due to malfunction, not just because it was running sluggishly. By contrast, I know people who buy a new computer simply because they're running out of space on their HDD (wtf, dude?).

You guys upgrade your computers a lot.

I've never upgraded a piece of hardware in a computer. Granted, I guess I wouldn't mind someday building something but... idk, I half think that I'll just go with laptops moving forward (unless I have a good way to link my pc and laptop)

I built my first gaming PC a couple months ago...
I feel bad though becuase I have barely used it so far. I've been playing exclusives on my Switch and PS4 and haven't really touched the PC.

I tried playing Skyrim with mods, but I kept modding it until it got serious issues or crashed lol.
