Literally don't do anything. And you'll lose weight. It's so damn easy.

I'm struggling to keep my weight and actively have to work on keeping/gaining.

It sucks. I'm below my normal weight. I'm 18 pounds less than my max earlier this year. It's a struggle seeing the number go lower and lower on the scale.

Anyone relate?

Same. As someone who struggles to keep their weight up it's a laugh seeing people complain about losing weight.

Literally put the fork down.

You realize people have different genetics right? Most people dont struggle to keep their weight up. You have a faster metobalism then most. Not saying its impossible to lose weight but its harder for some then others.

If you starve yourself then eat even a scarce ration, your metabolism could turn it all into body weight.

I had a roommate in college who had an incredibly fast metabolism. He had almost no body fat and he never even attempted to eat healthy, at all. Basically he couldn't gain muscle even if he tried. I'm guessing it's slowed down by now but that was definitely genetics.

A lot of people are dumb about dieting though. You'll always hear the figure from personal trainers or the like that getting a great body is 10-15% your effort at the gym, and 85-90% your diet. It's also a lengthy and all-encompassing process. You can't get to where you wanna be in a few months, it can take years. And then you have stick to it, not do yo-yo stuff like Oprah.

What they're saying is that if you look more carefully at what you eat, you can fill up with a proper meal and not feel the compulsive need to constantly eat stuff.

Calories are one thing, but if more people were conscious of how much sugar and sodium they eat/drink, then they wouldn't need to starve themselves.

I went on a steak and eggs diet for a year and lost 100 lbs. literally thats all I ate and only drank water. Ironically, despite it being a high cholesterol diet, my cholesterol was lower after the year.

Losing weight is easy. Eat one meal a day.

I eat whatever the fuck I want and still lose weight eating one meal a day. In three weeks Ive lost 12lbs. Determine what your maintenance calorie intake is, then just eat less than that. My maintenance (at 218) is ~2,000 calories. I try for 1,500 a day, and I struggle to get that much in one meal. I typically cant stomach anymore than 1,300.

If you just eat cake, pie, and candy bars you could eat more than your maintenance in one meal I suppose. I eat pizza, McDonalds, Hardees, Taco Bell, and I still lose weight.

Very true. During my steak and eggs diet I ate only
Once a day. Its hard at first but you adapt.

Most fat people can't handle the feeling of being slightly hungry. Any hunger pangs = STARVING to them. My ex was like that, she'd act all faint and moody like it was the end of the world if she hadn't eaten in over 6 hours. Once your brain figures out "I'm not fucking starving, I just feel like eating" it's easy. I went from over 300 pounds to 186 with pretty much zero exercise, just diet, portion control, and forgoing meals if I wasn't hungry.

The first three days is the hardest by far. After the first two weeks I really dont even get hungry until late afternoon.

One meal a day is how our bodies have evolved for billions of years. Our ancestors were lucky if they ate once a day, and thats what they did for billions of years. Our bodies arent meant to eat all day. Its why the obesity epidemic has skyrocketed in the last 30 years.

Inside your body you have a crazy guy wearing a sandwich board yelling the fast is comming! And he avidly stores away fat. Every molecule of fat he can get his hands on he squirrels away. There is no convincing him that everything is ok; that the fast will never come. The only way to fix his hoarding is to bring the fast.

Its kind of a self fulfilling prophecy, but thats how our bodies have evolved.

You literally just restricted your calories. You can do this eating 5 meals a day if you wanted too.

Yeah but at least with one meal a day you get one super satisfying meal instead of 5 tease meals. Plus its more convenient. Also intermittent fasting boosts weight loss.

You could, but its a hell of a lot easier to eat one giant filling meal than to eat 5 tiny unsatisfying meals.

For most it's easier to eat a small snack when hungry then to eat one big meal and be hungry for 16 hours a day.

It is uncomfortable, to put it mildly, starting out. But once youre used to it, it wont bother you.

To each their own i suppose.

Although the bottom line here is calorie restriction is the most effective method in losing weight. Eating excessive calories is the key to gaining.

I'm hard pressed to believe so many people have self diagnosed "fast metabolisms" I equate it with fat people who claim they are "big boned"

Naw, thats not true. I lost a lot of weight with hard work and dedication, but I have a buddy whos like 120 and he eats like a fuckin horse. No matter what he does he cant gain weight. Its no excuse but it does exist.

I don't deny it exists, I just don't think it's as rampant as I see it being mentioned.

Not in any meaningful way.

Eating the same amount at different intervals will have negligible difference compared to simply eating 80% of what you would usually eat.

By body weight I assume you mean fat. No, your body cant do that. It takes a significant amount of energy just for your body to operate. For your lungs to breathe and your heart to pump blood throughout your body all takes energy.

Your body isnt going to stop using energy and begin operating on magic. The source of energy must come from somewhere, either food or body fat.
