Ryan is a constant drain on the season. He's like Paul Abrahamian, who stayed dead last in my BB rankings all summer long. As long as he remains around, he will stay the worst (because there is no chance in hell he ever gets any episode where his "lovable" personality isn't shoved down our throats in some fashion.)

Like, I GET that he's in the marines and I respect him for his service. That episode where he's up in second place is the episode where he had that heartfelt scene about his PTSD. But he just came across as so sanctimonious in this episode. It's Survivor and Joe is clearly pushing your buttons. Quit acting like it's the biggest affront in the world for him to not even insult your service so much as he made up a lie about swearing on it.

Throw in his general alpha male "I'm running the show" attitude, and he just really, really sucks.

I don't think he acts like his typical alpha male as compared to Cole or Devon. The marine thing was a little over the top today but I think he figured it out during his confessional and not in the moment and think the way he acted in tribal shows that.

Cole and Devon are a bumbling doofus and a laid back chill dude, respectively. Ben in this episode (and last episode) reminded me of Savage in Game Changers. That's not a good comparison.

The other thing about Ben is...if you're gonna be an alpha male leader, at least be FUN about it. Tony Vlachos is amazing and is one of my favorite winners. I'm actively rooting for Joe as we speak. People like Ben, Chris from MvGX, Savage from Game Changers, Jeff from Philippines...people who are leaders in their normal life and then go on Survivor and take charge in a very bland and matter-of-fact fashion...there's no charisma, yet this person is getting a ton of screentime to dictate the season. If not for Joe, Ben would've calmly enacted his shitty, mathematically inaccurate plan, and this episode would've been boring as fuck.

And why Desi over Joe? Joe is the one that's going to cause great chaos. Desi is beatable at immunities long-term. Joe will find another idol eventually.

In Cambodia everyone's story was just about BIG MOVEZ except for Keith who just bumblefucked his way to the end of another season and was more funny/pleasant this time.

It's the polar opposite of Nicaragua - the endgame was filled with genuinely awful Survivor players but almost everyone got a legitimate character/story arc.

For what it's worth, I actually put Nicaragua in pretty much my dead-mid tier because some people were just so Goddamn headache inducing.

I think Jeremy's family is hardly a story so much as a trait tacked on to humanize him and make the audience happy when he blew Spencer out. The fact is that Cambodia's cast was extremely flat as personalities. You were either talking about strategy all the time, completely ignored and irrelevant as a random number, or Abi-Maria.

Cambodia is one of my favorite seasons. The reason I love it is because there's so many people that are playing to win - but the season is not without great character moments. It was a beautiful display of Survivor gameplay on all accounts and that's why I found it so breathtaking.

Nicaragua for me is a bottom 3 season because nobody knows what they're doing. The big moments of the season are a double quit and the castaways discovering that fire burns wood even when you don't want it to.

I really rated Nicaragua highly when I first saw it. but then I found the internet and I found out people like Holly? eww and I like Naonka and Purple Kelly except for the very last 10 minutes of their story

When Nicaragua aired NaOnka was my least favorite castaway if all time and remained in my bottom 5 until I watched it on DVD and my feelings toward her became more mixed. In the episodes that she is good, she is a fucking star. But then if you isolate episodes 2, 4, and 11, she is so incredibly vile that she rivals Colton.
