I suppose I could give them a shot at some point. I'm not sure how many if any are on Netflix or Hulu though. I feel like I've only seen that first one of the new Star Wars trilogy listed on there. There are tons of popular/loved movies I've never seen at all (Shawshank, Pulp Fiction and Indiana Jones to name a few)

I feel like the Harry Potter movie series is significantly weaker than the literature. I feel like Marvel only has 1 or 2 films that aren't at least good and seems to have many more films than Star Wars.

Marvel
Star Wars
LotR
Harry Potter
Bond I guess

The rest have some outright poor movies in their franchise.

But I've bet you've seen Forrest Gump.

You're a disgrace to 1994

I think for stuff like Batman and James Bond, where the continuities are more spread out, it makes sense to include them

Spiderman having three different continuities in 10 years is pretty stupid, though, so I have no problem leaving that off

Spiderman and Batman are both in the top ten, but I cut them because they both have so many different continuities.

Anagram

Come on.

Anagram has become so adept at being awful that he's actually become one of the best users on the board.

Anyway the answer would be LotR if the Hobbit wasn't on there, but fast and furious has actually been the most consistently enjoyable otherwise.

I mean....watch all those, too. Except Crystal Skull, you can skip that.

special shout outs to DpObliVion and JDTAY, who did well in the contest and normally play the piano when these scenes play

Ermmm what?

It turned into a generic action series with little to no link to the original outside of the actors. It's been awful since like the 5th one, when the Rock joined it all went to shit. It went from an underground street racing franchise to a global anti terrorist organisation with tanks and bringing down planes with chains and some tuned cars. It's horse shit. I can get somebody loving the early ones, I can get somebody loving the late ones, I cannot understand somebody loving all of them and thinking it's the best franchise in film history.

I used to be pretty bored watching the Lord of the Rings movies but then I re-watched the trilogy last year and somehow I was able to get into it (though Return of the King felt a little patience-trying).

For the record, ALL the pre-Casino Royale James Bond films are supposed to take place in the same continuity.

also, the x-men movies have several continuities as well.

there's the original continuity, the continuity that starts with first class, and who knows where deadpool and logan fit. edit: pretty sure wolverine 1 and 2 don't fit into any continuity either.

It's all the same continuity, there's just two timelines.

No, that's not an official Bond film. Same deal with Never Say Never Again.

Don't remember, but there's still going to be a lot of shared events between the timelines anyway, and his references are pretty vague.

also, wolverine 1 and x-men 1 supposedly take place in the same timeline, which also doesn't make much sense since they have completely different sabretooths.

i know having different actors is par for the course - kitty pryde is played by like 5 different actresses throughout the series - but the sabretooth from wolverine 1 also has a totally different personality than the sabretooth from x-men 1.

X-Men movies have different continuities but it's a combination of intent and sloppy writing, not due to "reboots"

It went from really interesting and well-crafted series about underground street racing culture (1 and 3) to really well-crafted big-budget action movies (5-8). They are two totally different genres but both are executed to near perfection for what they are (2 and 4 being the exceptions).

Personal ranking: Lord of the Rings > Harry Potter > Star Wars > James Bond > Marvel

Really don't care much for the others. I can barely say I care for Marvel. I'm not a comic guy and I feel like there's so many of them and they all kinda blend together from one experience to the next.

Not huge into Bond but of the films I've seen I usually like them.

I like the Star Wars universe, I think 4-7 are good movies, but I'm not as transfixed by them as most people. I'm not a geek for the OT.

Harry Potter... I like the books a lot, I find some of the movies really enjoyable, others very mediocre. But there's more of them I like over Star Wars, so it gets higher.

LotR is no contest. I love the trilogy. My wife knows every line in the trilogy. I think objectively they're the best too. The Hobbit trilogy is definitely lacking, but I can still enjoy it. I don't think it detracts from LotR.
