I'm not sure how I would handle the passing of a spouse, so I can't say.

and I hope I never find out

I do have to say that my initial gut reaction to this was a sort of discomfort, but I really have no right to make a judgement call on this.

That's about a year and six months. That strikes me as an incredibly short time to find and marry in the first place, much less after moving on from the death of the first spouse.

It's tough to wrap one's mind around, but don't think I'd ever move on, really.

It's plenty of time.

Everyone is different, but he has a kid and probably desired married life in general

I'd rather my father move on and be happier sooner rather than wallow in sorrow "for an appropriately long period of time"

I also think that after a year of dating you already pretty much know whether you want to be with someone permanently.

You did indeed stab me in the back. However, you are only level one, whilst I am level 50. That means I should remain uninjured.

I really don't know. I will say, though, that Patton Oswalt has been very forthright about how much his wife's death destroyed him.

I wonder about this from both sides. Like how would his new wife feel that Patton would rather be with his old wife? Ive seen some cases of people I know personally where this happens quickly and it always surprises me. But Im definitely not trying to judge anyone.

I doubt he's moved on at all, honestly. He probably remarried so fast because she was his only source of solace in his despair. Happens all the time - a spouse passes, the widow then remarries someone who provides them comfort. I can't imagine how bad the anguish is, but being alone probably makes it worse.

I see nothing wrong or strange with this. Between this and his comedy special, it's clear he has learned to accept the reality of the tragedy. That's all you need really.
