WASHINGTON POST - Poll: Trump?s performance lags behind even tepid public expectations

He is the only president dating back to Harry S. Truman whose approval rating at this point in his presidency is net negative ? by 22 points. The next worst recorded in that time was Bill Clinton, who had a net positive of 11 points by this time in his presidency.

Funny how that measurement allows Dubya of all people to look impossibly loved, but given the then-recent impact of 9/11 I think we understand how that happened.

Yeah I think most of the disapproval of Dubya came later in his presidency with the bungling of the War on Terror, though it took a while for the 9/11 solidarity to wear off, which is probably why he got a second term. (Well that and John Kerry was probably closer to Hillary on the charisma scale than he really should have been)

Ultimately the 2000 election controversy I don't think ever mattered all that much

Yeah, Bush didn't become "almost universally hated" until his second term. I'm not sure how many people that voted Bush were turned off from the Florida recount, a lot of the controversy was due to the networks, not Bush himself.

VAis super fucking important, especially given that mega-establishment GOP candidate Ed Gillespie went full Trump in his general election campaign. If he wins the lesson will be that embracing Trump fully is the way to win as a Republican (especially because VA is like the most establishment-friendly state).

If Northam wins in VA, it will prove that the left wing of the Democratic Party is wrong and the party doesn't need to change anything to win elections. If Gillespie wins, it will prove that the party needs to move further away from the left and towards the center to win.

I don't know about other states/cities but here in Louisville I can only vote at one polling place.

So if you feel the parking lot of a place that is mainly inhabited by people more likely to vote against your candidate, if they are lazy they just won't go if they see the full parking lot.

How is it cheating?

It's pretty dirty, (like having the lead of less than 6 on offense and making multiple offensive penalties to kill clock...) but it's totally not cheating. Just like killing the clock while driving it's probably dirty, but absolutely great strategy.

Voter suppression in general is cheating. How would you feel if I arbitrarily had the power to deny you a voice in decisions that affect your life? Our democracy is founded on the idea that the people have a say in choosing their elected officials and this is yet another example of taking peoples rights away.

The FIRST part is voter suppression, and while it was brilliant, it was also illegal. You didn't see me praising the phone scam did you? If that happens report them and get them arrested. That would be like deflating football.

The second part isn't remotely voter suppression. You aren't making it so someone can't vote, or can't find a place to vote and gives up.

You are giving the illusion that the line is incredibly long, and if they don't think their vote is worth time that's on them. The Dems actually can do this too. We just are usually more passionate about voting. Dems don't go out in the rain in large numbers for this.
