Sorry but this thread is full of bad opinions. Multiple people are hating on the Beatles and the Doors. Are you serious? Both are some of the best bands of any era. I'm just gonna assume all the people thinking like that haven't traveled to other dimensions or worship their hair metal gods in closet shrines. The Beatles aren't really rock though, at least in the latter half of their output - they were more or less pop with rock influences.

As far as classic rock goes today, it'd be some band from the 80's. Really take your pick - might go with Poison like some others have said. They almost have no redeeming qualities. That song 'Every Rose has its Thorn' is basically a Bret Michaels solo song. I also never liked the Scorpions, that band from Germany.

Speaking of bad opinions. You probably haven't heard most of their discography though and are judging on a couple radio hits. Their 70s material is great and sounds a lot different from the 80s stuff. I do like the 80s scorpions as well though

I used to think that too until I heard their 80's stuff. God their 80's stuff is bad (granted, not 80's Queen bad, but pretty bad). Then their 90's stuff is basically Joey unable to keep up with everyone else's playing.

Isn't every great band like this ?

Like maybe 1 or 2 great songs on a album and the rest crap or filler songs ?

Anyway (Dark Side of the Moon) is one of the few complete albums there are.

Even then (Money) seems out of character compared to the rest of the album with it's snooty and uppity tone.

I wasn't born, but hey - at least its an opinion, regardless of hipster ass-ery.

Not to say I don't like their music after he left, but the guy was a genius and I like all of his solo work more than anything post-67/68 Floyd released. Just wasn't the same without him because they lost the psychedelic obsession that made that era great.

Who's comparing? You called him brain damaged for naming great bands, then you named a great band like Journey. Not the same ballpark, but still a great 70's/80's group.
And, yes, they have songs that aren't verse-chorus-verse....they started as a progressive band actually.

I hate the "but when they started they were ___" arguments. If you have to clarify that, it's obvious nobody knows it, because they only got popular for making much shittier music. And while I said this topic isn't about most overrated, I do still think there is a degree to which popularity goes into making something the worst. Like if a band is terrible but you're almost never subjected to having to hear them, it's not really worth complaining about

People sure do get funny when someone has a different opinion, don't they? Almost to the point of using belittling insults so they feel their opinion is more sound.

Sublime are the pinnacle of music...EVER. Nobody gets better than them. When I heard "What I've Got" for the first time? Boy, oh boy - I was blown away. Never have I ever heard something with such smooth yet unexpected transitions and note intervals. Don't even get me started on "Santeria"....That song...That SONG! Golly gee, They should rename the track to "The only Song You'll Need, take 1 of 1" because 1 take is all that's necessary for perfection. Some say "perfect" is only an idea, well here's the big idea - Sublime IS perfect.
