Movie starts out amazing but who is this dweeb they're trying to portray as an intimidating bully?

Loving the movie but makes Agents of Shield really incompetent at their job if they've never heard even a peep about this smuggling ring that's taking alien tech and Avengers Ultron tech right under Stark's nose. How incompetent of the people in charge.

As much as I loved the movie, Flash was my biggest gripe. I know what they were trying to do in that he's not the traditional jock bully, but I'm use to seeing that dude play dorky, meek characters that it's weird seeing him trying to bully someone else.

Wait what he's 15? I was hoping he'd at least be 16 or 17, a junior or senior in high school. 15 is way too young. I don't want another spiderman in high school forever...

I mean, that's accurate to the comics. He first get his powers at 15. They want to have it where he goes up a grade level each movie, like Harry Potter.

Not miscast at all.

It's a different direction for the character and I can see people not liking it, but I thought it was great. A far more realistic depiction of an actual bully than the big jock shoving nerds in lockers and giving swirlies.

This Flash is just an annoying dick. It's great lol.

That was a fun movie. I simultaneously liked Michael Keaton's Vulture but also felt he was underdeveloped as a villain, and I wanted to know more. Like maybe a confrontation with the family or a typical "you're not doing this for your family you're doing this for you" scene except not as cliche as that line.

Wow that was surprisingly honorable, he didn't rat out Parker's identity.

But seriously Parker is EVERY villain gonna know your secret identity? We haven't even gotten to this iteration of green goblin and already you've gotten your identity exposed. Although I still like how they did it A LOT more than the 2 garbage movies that shall not be named before this return to form movie.

I was hoping it was a joke like he has to do this as part of Community Service to avoid being put in jail for the whole civil war and bucky thing and he was wondering how many more of these he has to do before his community service hours were up but I must have read the vibe of that scene wrong.

He's still in hiding

Around the beginning of the movie the kids are watching videos like that, the gym teacher says something like "I'm pretty sure this dude's like a war criminal now but the state requires me to play these"

Coincidentally, the Deadpool scene was a reference to Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Spider-Man also had a scene directly referencing that movie (where he's shortcutting through the backyards). The scene itself from Ferris Bueller is even playing on someone's television lol

It was an awful casting and he wasn't written very well.

He came off as a douche, not the sort of physical jock bully that Flash Thompson is supposed to be.

To be fair in the comics he stopped being a physical bully fairly early as Peter used his superpowers on him.

He didn't physically bully Peter much at all. He mostly just made fun of Peter for being a weak nerd and acting stuck up and not standing up for himself enough. The only time I remember him getting physical is when he provoked Peter into facing him in a boxing match. Peter knocked him out and then he got back up and Peter started holding back to protect his secret identity.

And while I'm not crazy about web shooters, I really liked them here actually. Enjoyed that they did it like the video games with web grenades and different kinds of web shots, that definitely sold me on web shooters in movies (but let's not overuse the "oh noes out of web now" contrivance more than once a decade)

It's just a vocal minority of cry babies bitching about it. Most people don't give a fuck because comic books tend to take different approaches and make altered versions of their characters literally all the time via different universes.
Hell, look at Flash in this movie. I'm not crazy about him myself, but that have more to do with the actor than the actual character.

Yeah that was a nifty coincidence, they didn't even need to show the corresponding Ferris Bueller clip because the first thing I thought of during that scene was the movie.

Tbh, I don't think you can really even call him a bully. I just couldn't take him seriously at all. Penis Parker was just the dumbest most hack joke they could have done.

The one good joke from him was when he playfully refused the DC trip, because maybe Black Widow will want to go out with him. The delivery and timing of that was actually good. If they gave him more lines like that then he'd be a more effective character.

Same here, I think it would be possible to do the Flash arc over a trilogy of films if they wanted to do it.
