You're thinking of it backwards. Having more education doesn't cause belief to go down, having less belief causes your education to go up. It's not because people of faith aren't as smart, it's because they struggle to find a college not teaching horse crap

I know one person from High School who was very religious and very smart. He was our valedictorian. We also went to the same college although different majors.

He also was 2 grades ahead in math so his last year of high school he went to a community college for his math class.

I know plenty of smart successful people who are religious, but no one who is super religious. They go to church occasionally and have boring ass weddings with sermons and hymns, that's about it.
