Lake is definitely the worst because I completely forgot what it was and I played through it probably 4 days ago.

I love Seaside, such a relaxing kingdom and actually good water exploration thanks to Cheep Cheeps and (especially) Gushens.

When I first beat the game, Sand was my least favorite kingdom because it felt really spread out without the cohesion/moon consistency of the other kingdoms. After going back to 100% it I definitely don't feel that way anymore, especially since the koopa race demonstrated you can get from one side to the other in no time flat. >_>

Thinking on it now, Lake is probably my least favorite. It's just too small and simplistic, plus a majority of the moons are just packed around the town. It's still a great world, with plenty of great moons, though. Really don't feel like there are any losers when it comes to this game beyond the two kingdoms that are pretty much just used for boss fights and have 10-ish moons.

At +400 moons, Luncheon is for sure one of my favourites, but clearing it was a bit of a drag.

At 500 moons, 100%ed every Kingdom pre-ending except for Bowser and Moon, didn't really do too much post-ending stuff:

Metro > Mushroom > Wooded > Sand > Bowser > Luncheon > Seaside > Lost > Cascade > Snow > Moon > Cap > Lake > Ruined > Cloud

Metro -> Sand is top tier, Bowser -> Cap is mid tier, Lake -> Cloud is lower end tier.

797 Power Moons beated

Only Kingdoms left to 100% are Bowser, Moon, Mushroom, Dark and Darker side.

I caved in and had to watch some youtube videos to find out where I missed a couple of Purple coins though. I had 2 missing in Metro and 3 in Seaside. Both were a pain trying to figure out on my own and I didn't wanna scale through every nook and cranny which I tried to do as much as I could the first time around.

Is there anything you get from getting every Purple Coin? And is there a way to find them in-game other than using the Bowser amiibo? I dunno if I'll end up getting them all.

Well. It allows you to buy all the Kingdom exclusive items from the purple shop. Most of the outfits you buy from the shop are required for certain Power Moons.

I guess getting 100% purple coins isnt necessary unless you want to collect everything though. Since 50-60% of the coins are usually enough to get all the outfits in each respective world.

I believe you also need to collect every outfit and souvenir in the game to get all the moons, which means all purple coins.

Purple coins are relatively easy to gather, anyhow. I got all of them in most worlds on my first pass through, and the only world I've been missing any in by the time I'm 100% done with the kingdom otherwise is Metro.

But yeah, I'm pretty sure you need all collectibles from the shops to get the Toadette moons.

Not if you happen to overlook some. I for no good reason went back to an area in Seaside that I never planned to go back to, and happen to find some Purple Coins. I could have easily missed those.

In the post-game, Cappy will tell you if you are missing coins or moons from a sub-area when you enter it. It's pretty helpful.

Yeah if you overlook some in a hat room or something that can be pretty bad, but in that case the game is nice and tells you if you're missing something. Upon returning to one of them Cappy will have a line mentioning if you missed a moon or any coins, it's been pretty helpful!

Edit: Wow, 12 seconds apart and we both even ended with "pretty helpful."

I never thought I'd say this, but...I have a new favorite game. Super Mario 64 has finally been bested. Game of the year, game of the forever. So freaking good.

I'm about 320 or so moons in so far and beat the main story.

Last 3? to go in what I presume to be the traditional ultra secret challenge akin to Grandmaster Galaxy.

It is sad but it looks like I'll be finishing the game tomorrow. Time to hibernate my gaming until Xenoblade 2.

Does the song that plays during the escape from the moon have a proper title? It's listed as Honeylune: Escape in the Music list, but that also lists Jump Up Superstar as 'NDC Festival', so I'm not taking it as authoritative.

I've got around 520 moons now, but I beat Darker Side last night after about 15 tries. It was really satisfying but I thought The Perfect Run was much tougher.

Now to go do all the rest of the post-game.

Also I really love Seaside. It's so gorgeous and I love the mobility in/above the water. I'll be sad when I'm finished with it.

I also much preferred the volleyball to jump rope. Jump rope was horrific for me, took forever, at least an hour non-stop. Tried so many methods before just getting into "the zone". Volleyball took about 30 mins trying, I liked the twitch reflexes using cappy.

Super Mario Odyssey 100% completed

All Power Moons and Purple Coins obtained in all Kingdoms.

999 Power Moons obtained. Bowser Hard Mode beated! Mushroom Kingdom secret celebration scene viewed.

I must say the Secret Final Level was pretty easy because it only took me about 6 tries. I guess it continues 3D Land and 3D World's tradition of not making the Secret Final Level too challenging. Grandmaster Galaxy's Perfect Run from SMG2 still stands as the undisputed ultimate challenge in 3D Mario.

With that said, Odyssey has broken into my Top 10 games of all time and is also my third favorite game of 2017 (IMO the best year in gaming) behind only BotW and P5 by a small margin. That is an incredible feat in itself but it has also usurped Galaxy 2 from its throne as the king of 3D platformers.

What an incredible game it was and I hope the rest of you enjoy it as much as I did.

Are you talking about the Final Level (as in thr story's final level) or the Secret Level which you unlock after doing everything (or almost everything) in the game?

You literally have to beat Grandmaster Galaxy without getting hit even once in Perfect Run. None of the other Secret Levels had a challenge like that unless it is self imposed. That factor alone makes Galaxy 2's Secret level infinitely harder than the rest.

If I had to rank the Final Secret levels it would be

Galaxy 2 >>> 3D Land > 3D World > Odyssey > Galaxy (lol)

I struggled with 3D Land's more than World's. Not to mention getting to 3D Land's Secret level was ****ing tedious just like Galaxy 1.

01. Metro Kingdom - Has become one of my favorite areas in gaming
02. Bowser's Kingdom - I am a sucker for Kingdoms in the sky. But when you add Japanese architecture to it then it becomes even more special. Also I love Pokios.
03. Sand Kingdom - The first true open experience in the game and I loved it.
04. Wooded Kingdom - This has no place ranking as high as it should since I normally hate areas like this but it quickly grew on me and I loved it.
05. Luncheon Kingdom
06. Seaside Kingdom - Love Gushens, normally hate water levels in games but this was really well done.
07. Cascade Kingdom - Bob-omb battlefield on steroids
08. Snow Kingdom
09. Lake Kingdom
10. Mushroom Kingdom - Overrated but it serves well as a bonus area
11. Moon Kingdom - Love the gravity and all but I despise dark areas like these
12. Lost Kingdom
13. Cap Kingdom - Too small in size and not a fan of the atmosphere.
14. Ruined Kingdom - Good boss area but not much more than that
15. Cloud Kingdom - My expectations soared when I heard Cloud Kingdom but nope just a boss area. You can imagine my disappointment.

Im now at 660 moons and have 100% Lake, Wood, and Lost Kingdom. Gonna skip Metro for now and head to Snow since its smaller.

Darker side isnt too bad but this bird part is infuriating. I swear the controls arent consistent here. I know theres an easier way to get through but I still keep dying here.
