Modern Sonic is ok, Classic Sonic is great, Avatar is trash.

You can probably play the just the sonic parts and ignore the Avatar and it would be a pretty good game.

The game is basically Generations + Avatar, which, even though creating the avatar is cool, the gameplay for the avatar sucks.

I played a demo on a trade floor as the Avatar and it was pretty awful. It was a bit laggy.

Never tried the others though. It's a bit sad that my most optimistic thought about this game is that it might just be more Sonic Generations.

I've struggled to truly enjoy a Sonic entry since SA2:B and two thirds of that was mediocre at best (not including Chao). I liked DX more because at least the characters that didn't play like Sonic had relatively short missions, the emerald hunts in 2 were hair-pull worthy by comparison for instance.

Generations is the best it's been so far and I did enjoy my playthrough but I'd rather have 3D Sonic over 2D (egads!) and the 3D Sonic portion of Generations was still worse than DX and Battle. Also, no Chao.

It's honestly just become tiring to hold out any hope at this point, at least in my case. Though with 2D Sonic they finally made a solid hit with Mania.

I liked Colors and Generations.

This game oddly looks like something that was pumped out a year after Generations with the same engine or something.
