Dude was indeed cool but we haven't had a conversation in probably four years and we only worked at an awful job together for four months. He nearly died from a gas leak a year ago and I sent him well wishes...but I ignored some generic spam he sent me about spreading awareness of that type of leak too, so shame on me probably for not doing more. =/

Anyway, it's giving me the option to say how we're related and I'm thinking about saying he's my son. I won't (turned down requests from all actual family and closest friends), but his reaction's fun to think about.....

Family lost that FB privilege when they couldn't tell a friend posted a fake status on my account.

Early in the casual revolution, you see, a roommate posted "I am so gay I heart penis" on my status. I woke up to it and laughed at how my gay friends knew that wasn't true and my high school crew were like "knew it lol."

You know who didn't get it though? Grandparents.

Rumors ran amuck in my family for these two weeks from 2008, including some awkward phone calls. One grandmother spread the rumor all across the family, the "digitally savvy" grandmother of the family who didn't understand sometimes people fucked with people or that this wasn't how I normally spoke. The other grandmother would quietly listen in on a call while my aunt would talk to me about if it was true.

It wasn't true. I'm a Theatre major who didn't date in high school, and so I had to repeatedly explain my situation to them. It was just a prank, and I'm not gay -- I'm awkward. There's a difference.

Also had an uncle who messaged me, talking like "if you ever want to come out, man, we got your back with arms wide open." My aunt divorced him right after (for other reasons, but the timing was pretty much perfect).

So yeah, rude, but we'll all get over that.

I also try to stay away from family on FB. My mother hard core stalked me to make sure I wans't posting anything that could "harm my employment status" and I posted something about a bastard sword once and she took it to mean the curse word and confronted me over it.
