"I think we should start on etiquette training."

"Etiquette training?" Beast Boy says with a bit of a chuckle. "You mean like, pinkies out while sipping your tea?"

"And making sure you use the right spoon for your soup?" Cyborg says in a cliche British accent.

"Hmm, yes, quite right, old boy," Beast Boy says, joining in with the accent. "Please pass the rice."

"Here you are, good sir," Cyborg says as he hands Beast Boy a box of rice.

"Would you two stop?" Raven says.

"Actually, I do have some relatives who talk like that," you say. "And there are proper spoons and forks for different parts of the meal. But the pinkie thing isn't going to be necessary."

"Wait, why would I need etiquette training?" Raven asks.

"Well, because while we're staying with my family, we'll be having meals with them," you say. "Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Especially the big dinner for Father's birthday party. My parents will expect us both to be on our best behavior at the table."

"I'm always behaved," Raven says. "Now if it were one of these two..."

She nods over at Cyborg and Beast Boy, who are currently slurping noodles and making a lot of noise just chewing, respectively.

"What?" the two of them say.

"Well, I think there's something in Eastern culture about slurping actually being the polite thing to do," you say. "And yes, I know you're a much cleaner eater, but there is more to it than that. We'll worry about this more in the morning, Chinese food isn't really the food for this."

"If you say so," Raven says.

Everyone keeps eating, and you fill up with plenty of delicious Teriyaki chicken.

After everyone has finished eating, you help put away the food and the dishes.

"So, anyone up for a game?" Beast Boy says.

"Video game or board game?" Robin asks.

"Either or," Beast Boy says.

"I would enjoy a game of the board variety," Starfire says. "Perhaps the one with the money and the properties."

"Monopoly takes a long time, though," Beast Boy says.

"Well best to start now then," Cyborg says. "Dibs on the car!"

"I think I'll pass," you say. "If you'll excuse me."

You head out of Ops and towards your room, but Raven slips around in front of you.

"Oh," you say. "Raven, aren't you going to play Monopoly with the others?"

"No, I passed, too. I'm usually just the bank anyway. I'm more concerned about you."

She wraps her arms around your arm as she looks up at you with the sweetest look in her eyes.

"I can tell with my Empathy you're still pretty sad over what happened," she says. "Which also means I knew you and Beast Boy weren't talking about lunch."

"You did?"

"Well, that and it was just a really bad lie anyway," she smirks.

"Oh."

Raven then rests her head on your shoulder and wraps her arms around you in a hug.

"I'm not just doing this because Jinx hugged you earlier," she says.

"I know," you chuckle. "And thank you."

You give her a kiss on her forehead just above her chakra gem.

"Well if we're not playing Monopoly," you say, "what're we to do?"

You and Raven look into each other's eyes.

"Don't even think about it," she chuckles.

"I wasn't..." you say sheepishly.

"How about another game of chess? Or cards?"

"Cards will be fine," you say. "Your room or mine?"

"Your room."

You two continue down the hall and enter your room. You take out the deck of cards from your knapsack while Raven sits on the bed. You unpack the cards and shuffle them as you sit down across from Raven.

"What game shall we play?" you ask.

"Anything but War," she says. "That one took forever."

"Let's try Golf," you say.

"What?"

"Golf," you say. "You try to make the lowest scoring hand possible. There are variations from Four Card Golf all the way up to Ten Card Golf."

"Sounds simple enough," she shrugs."Let's go with... Six Card Golf."

"Ah, a good choice," you say. "In Six Card Golf, there is a special rule where if you pair equal cards in columns, the become zero. We are therefore to arrange our cards in a 3 by 2 rectangle, in order of how they're dealt to you."

"So, first three cards make the first row, next three cards are the second row."

"Exactly," you say as you deal out the twelve total cards. "Keep them face-down of course. The deck will be face down as our 'stock', but one card will be turned over face-up to be our discard pile."

You do just that and turn over the next card, the Queen of Hearts.

"Alright, now we get to turn over any two of our cards," you continue. "These are the only two cards we can know about, up until we've discarded them."

"Whoa, big risk."

You decide on your fourth and sixth cards, which turn out to be the Five of Clubs and Ace of Hearts, respectively.

"Very good start," you say. "Aces are low so I currently have six points."

Raven reveals her fifth and sixth to be the Seven of Spades and Ten of Clubs, respectively.

"Seventeen," she says. "Not a good start but I guess it'll have to do."

"As there's only two of us and I was the dealer," you say, "you may go first. You can choose to take from the discard pile, or from the stock."

"Will I get to know what this new card is?"

"Of course. But if you replace a face-down card with it, you can't know until it's too late."

Raven draws from the stock, and looks at it.

"Wait, how are the cards scored?"

"Aces are one, but Twos are negative two, so they're also sought after. Three to Ten are as they are, Jacks and Queens are also Ten, but Kings are zero, so they're also sought after."

"This isn't as simple as I thought after all," she says.

She discards her Ten to replace it with a Jack. This keeps her score at the same but perhaps she's willing to gamble the card above it is also a Jack.

Now that it is your turn, you take from the stock. You draw Six of Hearts, and play it safe by removing the Five of Clubs. Raven takes your Five right away to replace her Jack, dropping her score to 12.

"Clever move," you say.

You draw from the stock and get another Jack. You immediately discard it.

"You can do that?" she asks. "You should've told me I could, I would've just ditched the Jack."

"Well, at least it didn't affect your score."

She smirks, then takes the next card. She discards her Seven and replaces it with a Six. You draw an Ace! You immediately get rid of whatever is above your first Ace to place it down. You now have only a score of six, because the pair makes for zero.

Raven draws from the stock, but discards the Nine of Clubs. You draw agani, and get the King of Hearts! You're obviously replacing something with this, but what?

Well, the easiest is to just replace the Six of Hearts. This will make your score effectively zero until you review what is left face-down.

Without hesitation, and perhaps with excitement, Raven grabs your Six of Hearts to put it above her Six of Diamonds. Her score now effectively becomes five.

"How long does a game of Six Card Golf usually last?" she asks.

"Until all of one person's layout is face-up," you say. "That could vary in time depending on how many people are playing, but with just the two of us, it should be comparitively short."

You draw from the stock and have the Jack of Clubs. You ditch it, no sense in adding up to ten points. Raven draws from the stock and replaces the Ten of Diamonds with a Six of Clubs.

"Shoot, back to 11," she says. "Though, with the Ten that would've made it more so I guess it's okay."

You draw from the stock again and get a Four of Clubs. Three face-down cards that could be anything, but you're pretty sure a lot of Face cards and Tens have been used so it can't be those. You decide to test your middle column.

"Oh no...!" you groan. "I'm getting rid of a Three for a Four?"

"And it's mine now," Raven grins as she takes it.

You draw again but ditch the Queen of Diamonds right away. Raven draws from the stock and is giddy as she puts a Two of Spades and replaces...

"Oh no, not a King!" she says.

"Mine!" you say as you use it to replace your Four of Clubs.

Raven takes your Four of Clubs to replace her Five. You draw and ditch Queen of Clubs, Raven risks replacing a face-down card with the Seven of Hearts.

"Oh c'mon, that was a Queen, too?" she says. "If I'd known that I would've..."

"It's alright," you say while you draw and ditch the Ten of Hearts. "Part of the game is the gamble."

"Aha!" Raven says as she draws another Seven. "Now I am at three!"

"To my zero," you smirk as you ditch the Jack of Spades.

Raven ditches the Six of Spades, you take the Four of Hearts but end up discarding a Three.

"Aha!" Raven says as she takes it. "Three pairs- No wait I got rid of a Two?"

"Well, that doesn't really matter, you ended the hand," you say. "Time to reveal and score."

Raven has three pairs for zero, your hand is pair of Aces, pair of Kings, a Four and a Two. A Two subtracts so your net score is two.

"Congratulations," you say. "You win the hand."

"Sweet. Let's go again."

"Alright. But the scoring is cumulative if we do more than one hand. You have no worries, you got a zero net score, I'll be starting two points down."

"All the more reason for us to go again," Raven smirks. "I'll be even more likely to win."

"In that case, you deal," you say as you hand her the gathered-up cards.

Raven shuffles, deals, and then sets the deck down for the stock and turns over a Two of Diamonds.

"Shoot," she says. "That's yours now..."

"Well first we need to pick our two to turn face-up," you say. "But yes, that is mine."

You go with your middle column, revealing a King and a Queen. Raven goes with her fourth and sixth to reveal a Seven and Five. You replace the Queen with the Two for a negative two score.

Raven draws a Five and gets to pair it with her other Five, discarding the Eight. You draw a Three of Spades and have a decision to make.

You keep the Three of Spades as you ditch--

"Oh no, not a King," you groan as you put the King of Clubs in the discard pile.

"And now it's mine," Raven smiles as she uses it to replace... "Oh c'mon, and Ace?"

"Which is mine now," you say.

You use the Ace to replace the other card in your right column. You replace your Jack of Hearts and now stand at another two point hand.

"Well that's better," you say.

Raven draws, and replaces her Seven with the Three of Clubs.

You draw the Six of Spades and ditch it, you won't worry about cards that big yet. Raven draws, and uses the Four of Spades to replace a Nine. You draw and ditch the Six of Clubs, Raven draws and replaces her face-down card with the King of Diamonds.

"All six of mine are face-up," she says. "Time to see what you have."

You reveal your remaining face-down cards, and you have a pair of Aces!

"Oh c'mon..." Raven says. "How did you end up with those?"

"I don't know, you dealt the cards."

"So, the cumulative score is... four to seven! You're winning now! We gotta go again. Best of three."

"Alright," you say. "But do you care to make a wager?"

"Depends," she says with a suspicious squint.

"It won't be anything lewd," you say. "I was merely going to say that if I win, you wear a dress tomorrow."

Now she looks at you with a mix of confusion and suspicion.

"What?" she says flatly.

"Part of the etiquette training will be you wearing a dress while having a meal. Well, not for breakfast. And maybe certain lunches, but definitely for the formal dinners we'll be having with everyone."

"Seriously?"

"Yes. My mother, grandmother and sisters always wear casual dresses for normal dinners."

She continues to stare at you with that uncertain expression.

"I'm reconsidering going to London with you," she says.

"It'll be fine," you say. "If anything, we can probably find a way to incorporate your leotard into it, so that you'll really only be adding a skirt."

"So, what I'm winning is simply me delaying the inevitable," she says. "But if you win, I have to start wearing dresses as soon as tomorrow night's dinner?"

"We can probably try for sooner than that," you say.

She half-pouts, half-smirks at you.

"Okay, then," she says. "In that case, if I win... Actually I'm not sure what I could make you do."

"Well that's alright, you can come up with something, should you end up winning."

"Oh, 'should', huh? Alright, I'm gonna make sure it's something really good just because of that."

"You deal," you say.

"Oh, right, because the dealer is at a disadvantage," she says as she gathers the cards.

"You're already at a disadvantage because you're down three points," you say.

Raven shuffles and deals, then puts the deck down and waits to turn the next card over, she reveals two cards first, as do you. She reveals her middle column, you reveal your fourth and sixth cards.

"Eight and Seven," she says, "while you have a King, and an Ace. This is not fair..."

She then turns the card over and it's another King!

"Really?" she complains as you snatch it up.

You replace a face-down card, a Jack of Clubs. Raven grumbles as she draws from the stock. She immediately cheers up as she puts the Eight of Clubs where her Seven was.

You draw the Nine of Diamonds and ditch it. Raven draws and ditches the Five of Spades. You draw an Ace of Spades!

"Seriously?" Raven pouts as you replace what is above your Ace of Diamonds.

The Eight of Diamonds ends up in the discard pile while Raven grumbles and draws. She ditches the Seven of Diamonds. You draw and ditch the Queen of Diamonds, but Raven keeps the Three of Clubs to replace her face-down Six of Spades.

You draw the King of hearts, and feel a little bad as you use it to replace a Ten. Raven hangs her head a moment before drawing and taking a Four of Diamonds to replace a Ten of her own.

You draw and ditch a Jack, but Raven happily keeps a Three.

"It could all come down to this," you say.

You draw, and Raven anxiously awaits what you do. You each have only one card left face-down. You have a three point lead, and you draw a Four. You decide to keep it, and replace what turns out to be a Nine.

"All of my cards are revealed," you say. "This hand score of four gives me a total score of eight."

Raven reveals her remaining card, and it is and Ace!

"Your total score is 12," you say for her. "I win the bet."

"I'll do something lewd!" she says quickly.

"You really don't want to wear a dress, do you?" you say with a laugh.

"I don't!" she pouts as she falls over on her side. "I don't even have one in my wardrobe, I bought all pants and shorts."

"Then we can go shopping tomorrow before dinner."

Raven grumbles more.

"Come now, Raven," you say as you sit her up. "You'll look nice in a dress. Beautiful, lovely, gorgeous even."

Raven giggles.

"I've never been called gorgeous before," she smiles.

"Well you are," you say as you kiss her hands. "And we'll make sure to buy you an entire wardrobe of dresses. Plenty of casual ones for the day, and plenty of semi and full formal dresses for dinners."

"I guess that'll be okay," she says. "When would we do this shopping?"

"We can go out for lunch tomorrow, perhaps to the mall, and do our shopping at the same time."

"But what about our etiquette training?"

"We'd obviously still do that," you say. "But with dinner tomorrow evening."

"And what will dinner tomorrow evening be?" she asks. "You already said Chinese food wouldn't work with the kind of etiquette training you have in mind."

"Well, I'll prepare us a nice four-course meal," you say. "We'll have soup, salad, a main dish and a dessert. I'm thinking for the main course..."

"Steak. Whatever cut you'd like. We can get all our dinner things after buying dresses. Lettuce, tomatoes and such for our salads, seasonings for the steak, things like that."

"Mmm, that does sound nice," she says. "In that case, I think we should turn in for the night."

"Yes, we had quite the full day today and another full day ahead of us," you say. "Good night, Raven."

Raven blushes and giggles as you kiss her hands again.

"Good night, Rorek," she says.

She kisses you on the cheek before hopping off the bed and walking towards the door. You tidy up the cards as she goes out into the hall and gives you one last smiling glance over her shoulder.

You put the cards away, go across the hall into the bathroom to brush and floss your teeth, then return to your room to change clothes and slip into bed.

Falling asleep isn't very difficult, because you're very tired. It is your dreams that are difficult to deal with. You can't be sure, but it feels like you're in the era of the British Empire. Except you're not in the United Kingdom, or even colonial America. You're on a ship, already out to sea, but you have no idea where.

"Mr. Null," a sailor says as he walks up to you.

"Yes?" you respond. "What is it?"

"Are you sure you don't want more of us to go ashore with you and your family? The island is proving rather dangerous these days, what with the Greek War and all that."

Greek War? That sets this in the 1820's, and this must be the Mediterranean Sea. Rorek the Fourth was alive at this time but when was he ever in the Mediterranean?

"Don't worry," you still say; actually, it feels like someone else is saying it for you. "With I, my brothers, and my lovely wife, we should be fine."

At that, you/Rorek the Fourth hold(s) out a hand, and a woman with thick brunette curls and bright hazel eyes takes it in hers before giving you/him a kiss on the cheek. You/Rorek the Fourth then look(s) behind her to see the Fourth's brothers, Robert, Reginald, and Roger. At least, you remember those being the names from your lessons.

"Well, keeping ill fortune away while at sea with a woman was one thing," he says. "No offense, Lady Aine."

"None taken," she replies with a sweet smile.

Lady Aine? That indeed was the name of Rorek the Fourth's wife and three-times Great Granddaughter of Merlin. So this dream is still pretty accurate to what you learned about your family. But, there was never talk of the Null Family visiting an island near Greece.

"But Cyprus is in a right bad state what with it being between empires and all," the captain continues. "What are you even going there for, again?"

"Business with another family," you/Rorek the Fourth say(s). "We're hoping the Fortuns listen to reason."

You wake up with a start. Cyprus, the Fortuns, the Nulls... What does this mean?

It... It has to be coincidence. Your brain is full of information about your family, especially the Roreks. The things you've learned about Isabel's family must've simply intermingled with all of that.

You check what time it is. It's only 4AM. You sigh and rest your head back on your pillow. You try going back to sleep, but it proves difficult now. You toss and turn about, then sigh in frustration as you sit up again.

You take deep breaths to calm down and clear your head. You lie down again, and simply stare at the wall as to keep your mind from thinking of anything.

You wake up sometime later. You didn't even realize you'd fallen asleep. You roll over and see it's now 8AM. You get out of bed and stretch. You go across the hall and shower to freshen up.

After you've scrubbed, rinsed and dried, you wrap the towel around you and enter the hallway to find Raven walking over.

"Good morning," you say a little sheepishly as you go to your door.

"Good morning," she says as she walks up to you.

Raven stands on her tip-toes to give you a kiss in the cheek before giggling her way to the bathroom. You smile and chuckle as you go back into your room and dress in fresh clothing.

As you return to the hall, you hear the shower going, but also... Raven's humming? You aren't sure of the song, but you can't deny Raven is happily humming a tune in the shower. You smile again as you continue down the hall and back to Ops.

You set to work making breakfast or scrambled eggs, bacon, rice, and French toast. You make plenty of French toast so that everyone can have some.

Robin, Beast Boy and Cyborg walk in, take in deep breaths through their noses, and sigh in satisfaction.

"Y'know, this is probably the best part of Rorek staying with us," Beast Boy says. "The breakfasts he makes."

"Hey, I do French toast, too," Cyborg says.

"Yeah, but there's something about Rorek's French toast that's, I dunno, just really good," Beast Boy shrugs.

You don't have the heart to tell him that it's most likely from dunking the bread in an egg-based sauce.

Raven and Starfire appear together now. Raven is in casual clothes, and to your surprise, so is Starfire. It is still a skirt, halter top, boots and long socks, but all of different styles than her Tamaranian purple and silver.

"Well, hello there," you say as they join the others at the bar. "So I can see you two have gone shopping, yes?"

"Y-Yes," Robin says. "For a lot of things."

Robin's nervous tone must mean they shopped for more... risque articles of clothing.

"Alright, Raven," you say as you prepare a plate of everything for her. "Let's sit at the table and begin your etiquette training."

"Do we have to start now?" she asks. "Can't we wait until dinner time when I'm wearing a dress?"

"Say what now?" Cyborg says as everyone looks up with wide eyes.

"Raven," Beast Boy says, "in a dress? No way!"

Raven frowns at him while he laughs.

"Alright," you say as you still sit at the table, "we'll wait until tonight."

"Thank you," she says as she sits with you.

"But I see you are already dressed in casual clothing," you say. "Are you planning on going out this early?"

"Well, I dunno," she shrugs as she stabs scrambled eggs with her fork. "I was kinda thinking that if we were going to go out for lunch and shopping at the mall, we could just make a day of it. We could go around town for a bit, just enjoy the fresh air."

The others turn around from the bar to look at Raven with a look of confusion; a bit like how Raven looked at you last night.

"Okay, wait a minute here," Beast Boy says with some suspicion in his voice.

"Raven, enjoying being outside?" Robin says.

"Not to mention she used the phrase, 'make a day of it'," Cyborg says.

"Raven," Starfire says as she floats over. "Are you ill? And or infected by a mind-altering parasite?"

"No, I'm fine," Raven laughs as Starfire touches a hand to her forehead and peers into her ear. "I'm just... happy."

Raven looks over at you and smiles with a bit of blush.

"Rorek makes me happy," she says.

Her blush gets stronger, and she giddily giggles as she smiles.

"I've never said that about anyone," she says.

"I'm... I'm honored," you say with a genuine smile.

Raven giggles more as she still blushes and smiles, and even you blush a bit as you smile stronger.

"We're eating French toast," Beast Boy says, "and yet that right there is the super sugary sweet thing in the room."

"Oh whatever," Raven smirks.

You share a chuckle and continue eating. After you two finish eating, you put the plates and cups away for Raven.

"Alright, well," you say. "Why don't we go to...

"An arcade?" she repeats. "Really? We going for high scores on something?"

"No, no," you chuckle. "I want to win you things from one of those crane machine games."

"You wanna win me things?" Raven chuckles as she gets up and walks with you. "You sure love spoiling me."

"Are you saying you don't like being spoiled?"

"Well, no..." she smirks. "I'm just saying, you like spoiling me."

"Well, you're worth spoiling," you say as the two of you exit Ops.

Raven smiles as you two enter the lift. You go down to the garage, over to Shadowfax and ride out into town.

"Do you know where the local arcade is?" you ask her.

"Once," she says. "I think it's this way."

She guides you around, and you find the Jump City Arcade a few blocks from the mall.

"Parking meters," you say as you pull up to the curb. "Well, we'll stay an hour, see what we win, and then go to the mall."

"Alright," she smiles as you put money in the meter.

You two enter the arcade and go to the token machine near the front. The ratio is four tokens for one dollar, so basically a token is a quarter. You put in five dollars and get 20 tokens.

"This will be a good start," you say. "Let's find those claw games."

You and Raven walk through the aisles, hearing the sounds of various video games in the background. You hear fighting game sound effects, gun shots from shooters, and 8-bit sounds from retro games.

You enter the part of the arcade with prize games, and see a digital spin wheel game being restocked, and by a seemingly familiar person. The person turns around and notices you two.

"Raven?" he says.

"Oh great," she says. "You work here, too?"

"Sometimes," he says.

"Does your name tag read 'Goth'?" you ask.

"Maybe," he says as he awkwardly shuffles away.

You and Raven look at each other with a bit of a smirk.

"Well," you say. "Oh, there's the claw machines."

You two walk over and look at the various prizes inside each machine.

"Plenty of stuffed animals to choose from," you say.

"Yeah but they're all teddy bears or ponies," she says.

Raven walks down the line of machines, and her eyes immediately widen as she looks into the last one. She stares into it, hands on the glass like an excited child. You walk over and see all the atypical stuffed animals inside it.

"What are these?" she asks.

"This one looks imported," you say. "I believe those are all Japanese mascots."

"I want that one," she says, pointing to the brown creature with the gaping mouth with sharp teeth.

"Ah, Domo-kun," you say. "NHK's mascot."

"And that one," she says pointing at the droopy panda.

"Tarepanda of San-X," you say.

"And--"

"Okay, okay," you chuckle. "I'll get you one of each of all these things."

Raven moves aside and you put a token into the machine. The crane activates, and you move it around to where Domo's head is poking out. You carefully manuever the crane claw and lower it. It grabs Domo around his torso, under his arms. The crane lifts up, and Domo's arms keep him inside the claw.

"One Domo-kun, coming right up," you say.

The crane moves the claw over the drop zone, and it lets go of the prize. Raven takes it out of the chute, and gives it a big hug.

"Next," you say as you put in another token.

You move the crane again, and aim for the panda. You have the claw grab him around the neck, and as you expected, Tarepanda's big head keeps him stuck in the claw as it carries him to the chute. Tarepanda drops down, Raven takes him out and gives him a hug, too.

"Alright, next is..." you say as you put in your third token.

You move the crane around and aim for Rilakkuma.

"Wait," she says. "I don't want a teddy bear."

"But how could you not want Rilakkuma?" you say. "He's literally a relaxed, laid-back bear. And he's part of the San-X collection."

"Well, worry about the other members of the collection first," she says.

"Alright," you say. "Let's get Afro Ken."

"Excuse me?" she says with a raised eyebrow.

"Don't look at me like that, I'm not the one who named him," you say.

You use the claw to grab the dog with the big rainbow afro. The claw clamps onto said afro and just barely keeps a grip on it all the way to the chute.

"He does look cute," Raven says as she takes him out and looks him over.

"Well I've got 17 more tokens, so get ready to have even more cute stuffed animals."

"Whoa, hold on," Raven says. "You're not getting me 20 stuffed animals. There's not enough room in my room for that many! And I'm not letting my bed become some kind of teen girl cliche, all covered with them."

"I suppose that would clash with your strongly gothic theme," you say as you look at the adorable Tarepanda and Afro Ken; Domo can still fit in with his sharp teeth. "How about Kamonohashikamo?"

"W-What?" she says, holding in her laughter.

"He's a platypus," you say as you point out the yellow duck-billed creature.

Raven looks at him and continues to struggle with holding in her laughter.

"Do you like Kamonohashikamo?" you ask with a smirk.

She nods eagerly while still holding in her laughter.

"Oh good, Kamonohashikamo Black is also in there," you say as you activate the crane. "I'll get you both of them."

First, you grab original Kamonohashikamo, then put in another token to grab Kamonohashikamo Black. Raven takes them both and hugs all five of her stuffed animals.
