That would be something haha. I could always populate my town with them but she needs to get her degree first before pursuing her life goal of cat friendship

After you reach your goal, I say go wild!

All righty. I got a call confirming my specialist visit is next year in February, going to have to plan around that. Also got a call from the doc asking how things were going. She was suggesting to try the next level of dose as we started at the barest of minimums. So that's going to happen soon and I see her again in 2 weeks to report back on medication.

Yesterday I had a very large coffee (bigger than normal) and I was waaaaaay overstimulated. Tried a smaller coffee today and it still makes me feel a little jittery. Might have to stick with tea only. rip in peace coffee my love

not #Canada, #RuralRemoteCanada (and shit's the same in rural remote USA but also costs you money)

I got specialists really fast in the cities, there's nothing here. I have to drive 2 hours to see a specialist because that is the closest other city, and that clinic is busy with requests for all other small towns in a very large region.

So soon? I had to wait 5 months to start seeing just a bog standard psychiatrist on a skype call. Like they actually brought me from the waiting room to a room with a big monitor and a camera.

Wtf Canada give me stuff.

That's a long time! And what the heck you waited to do a video call??

When I lived in Edmonton I waited about 2 weeks to see a psychiatrist for the first time, and during that wait I had 2 counseling sessions and started group CBT. It was really good.

Where are you at, Lightning?

In 2 hours at work I had more than 20 interruptions. Most of which were for really silly things. No wonder I have issues staying on task.

Still getting things done but jeez I'd love more than 5 minutes without someone asking me to drop my work and to other things. Or for software to cooperate. Stop crashing you're ruining my momentum

Minneapolis, Minnesota. Big city, it's got a university and buses and a bridge and all that human stuff.
Couldn't tell you why it took so long. Especially when I was looking for a doctor I kinda just zombied through everything. Mental issues are cray.

And yeah the video call took me completely by surprise. I guess it makes sense to have as a thing... some patients might be better off a little impersonal I guess? Still seems weird.

I've skimmed here and there but I wanted to personally congratulate you on taking these steps! I consider you a PotD mainstay over the years and I noticed your posting behaviors head south in the last year or so. Glad to hear you are on a road to recovery, and best wishes.

Aww.. it's for the best, who knows you might be able to ease back into it down the road. And there's always tea in the meantime!

I grew up on medication for a diagnosis of ADHD.

Eventually my life led me to spending 5 years in military school and then four years in the Marine Corps.

After that time in my life, I no longer have ADHD.

yeah i imagine 9 years of discipline with life schedule structure provided for you can help you manage things on your own much better. I for one will not be joining the military, it would be great to find something that offers the same benefits for civilians (that isn't some kind of exploitative work).

i've been trying to get the sleep/wake schedule consistent to keep the meds consistent and that has been good, I just tend to want to stay up way too late and stay in bed as long as possible. there's only 3 days of the week I need to be out of the house before 9am... good luck convincing me to not sleep extra the other 4 days but I have actually been getting up and enjoying an earlier start.

Hey TC, now that your medicated. You should have access to another skill you're ADHD gives you while it simultaneously takes it away.
Your probably have an overactive imagination right? But have never been able to focus on anything specific.

Now's the time. Write a book or 2. Just start writing all these ideas you've been having. You should have tons of stories and imagination just sitting in your head, finally unlocked by the drugs.
