There is absolutely no benefit over a keyboard backlit with a single color

It's fun for 10 minutes then you turn off the color changing effects because they're distracting lol

My laptop has lighting "zones" rather than each individual key being allocated its own color, which makes for a somewhat awkward transition, where it goes from purple to the left-most side for the hot-keys, to the right where where the numpad is where it is green.

But the sides of the laptop have light strips running down it, as well as the logo on the back, as well as "Alienware" below the screen and the power button, so all is well.

I have a mouse that breathes a random color, but now the blue LED is broken and it's just shades of red, yellow, orange, and green.

my keyboard is also mechanical. I must say it feels better to type on than my old rubber dome keybaord
