To use Ace Attorney as an example, the game uses Phoenix's last name as wordplay a lot by doing stuff like, "Right, Mr. Wright?" or Redd White calling him "Mr. Wrong." Godot calling him "Trite" is a pun though because they sound similar.

It just seems odd to me that a name counts as a meaning towards a pun. A name can't really have a definition beyond being a name, that's why they can't be used in Scrabble

I never really thought about the nature of puns before I guess. And now that I have I'm finding that I don't really care enough to argue about it so I'll admit defeat
