That's pretty much it. Jim Sterling touches on a lot of it in his recent vid, where he basically boils it down to a cynical focus test that aims to get at the new hotness, i.e. Destiny. Can't have any linear action/adventure games nowadays; that would be too unique and potentially good for the consumers.

Funnily enough, he called that Visceral was next on EA's chopping block years ago

This made me seeth.

I've already been grinding my teeth for years that there hasn't been an attempt at a proper single-player Star Wars game since TFU2 (which sucked) and the death of LucasArts, started grinding my teeth harder once it was announced EA would be the sole licensee for the SW game franchise. They then shat the bed with Battlefront (which was entirely multiplayer focused) and while BF2 does have a campaign, you know it's gonna be short at best.

Now this, urgh. I hope Disney take back the license once the contract expires and just allows any developer willing to pony up the cash to create games for the Star Wars franchise to do so. Although they probably won't because they're doing the whole "everything is canon, yay!" crap now which will only serve to turn things into a headache down the line, regardless of how any of this plays out.

Disappointing.

Funnily enough Visceral had the opportunity to absorb the Star Wars 1313 team and continue work on that game. They said no. They wanted to do their own thing.

Now both development groups are gone.
