Back in MY days, games had cheat codes and you were actually having FUN WIT GUNZ, instead of s*** 'trophies' us old timers don't give a dime about.

Back in my day you had 3 lives, once you died it was game over, you had to start over.

Back in my day you didn't have a map and nice pointers to the next quest line, you had to figure that shit out yourself.

Back in my day fast travel was non-existant

Back in my day games that were called "hard" were ACTUALLY hard...

Back in my day, games didn't save your progress, you got a password and if you forgot the password you were fucked.

Back in my day you had to go to arcades to play against other people instead of being able to go online and do that from the comfort of your own home dagnabbit D:<

tbh, Chrono Cross could have been fixed if DLC was a thing back then. >_>

Except for the fact that a ton of content still ended up cut for various reasons and afterwards sold to you as an expansion or sequel. That information just wasn't made readily available to us back in the day.

lives in games is a truly atrocious mechanic. You know it's true because even the games that are stubborn and keep them around for the sake of tradition (like dumb mario games) made it so losing all your lives still doesn't make you start over from the beginning

The 'expansion' kids are obvs too young to post here. No such thing as 'spansions' in my days. Timesplitters 2 didn't have any spansions. And it was pretty darn finished when released. Or Goldeneye.
Damn brats! *shakes cane*

I still play old games like crazy. I found my copy of Battlefront 2 and it is infinitely more appealing than today's Battlefront 2. Nothing like timebombing an enemy ship as it flies out of the hanger.

I have 0 interest in pretty much all the games that are released today. Nothing holds my attention anymore. I think my horrible experience with MGSV is what did in modern games for me.

Back in my day games and the things that played them were tough as nails and din't overheat and breakdown after a few hours of play. My original NES still works completely fine. And if something was wrong, just blow it
