Pretty good. I always change my own brake pads and can do rotors and pretty much everything except the ball joints. I've changed a radiator, an idler pulley, serpentines, u joint, starter, and fuel filter. And of course my own oil changes. For the most part I've managed my own repairs over the years without going to a shop. Most stuff isn't that hard to do as long as you're willing to get the tools and do it

Why don't you open your own shop? It sounds like you can get some serious cash.

give me time to learn the names of all the tools used and I could be a helper. I can do the shit but I need someone telling me what to do. if I put my mind to it I could probably be decent without help but haven't so far needed to work on one often enough to memorize things.

Eh, I work and go to school right now so I wouldn't have extra time for it. Plus, I don't really have enough saved for it to be worth the risk at the moment and I would need money for a lot more tools too. I could do it on the side every now and then though I guess

Basic mantaintence.

I've had my cars service light on for years, it involves a sensor on a wheel that is linked to the ABS..
Problem is it could be any of the four wheels and this is where I stop caring

Find a way to merge the two.

You're smart. You can figure something out. Maybe make a niche that nobody else has, and there is a hidden demand for it, with no supply.

Average. Basic maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotation, air filter changes, transmission fluids, coolant flush, brake changes, etc I can do. Stuff like changing out the clutch, axles, I need help on.

No, I don't think anyone's good at fixing that movie franchise.

(Also no, I don't have a solid grasp of actual cars' mechanics)

Honestly, if you can do brakes, you're above average. Ive found most people can barely change a tire. Especially younger people

yeah when I was like 13 we lived on a section of private dirt roads and my mom would let me drive around for practice. I got a flat tire once and she just handed me the tools and told me to figure it out. unless you lack the strength I don't see how anyone is incapable

Yeah I'm pretty shocked when I see grown men who look lost when changing a tire but I've seen it a few times. I think a lot of people just get intimidated and think car repairs are a lot more complicated than they actually are which often is just remove a few bolts

Pretty good amateur. Just changed the timing belt on my Celica, have rebuilt engines and done engine swaps, do Stage 1 tuning (high performance intake/exhaust/FI computer) on my own cars. Electrical, brakes, etc. Not good at transmissions.

i've struggled once or twice, where the tire even with all the lugs off, was "seized" I guess the word would be and required a pretty good amount of physical force to pull off. but I still got it done despite being admittedly below average strength for a male of my age. (or what I assume is below average, i've noticed there is a wider gap these days, either got guys with muscles at least in the arms, guys who look like tooth picks or fat)

Basic maintenance for me. Otherwise, I rely on a certified mechanic to take care of the problem.

Just basic crap like changing a tire.
I work with machines constantly so I could probably figure more out quickly, but I don't have or need a car so it hasn't come up.

Same, I can do the easy stuff like you said and spark plugs, changing lights and fuses and such.

Otherwise pretty useless. Thankfully a friend is basically a mechanic and helps me out with anything I can't do.
