I don't think I would care much. Actors make a living pretending to be someone else, athletes play a game for money. It's Ok to like them just for that. I don't ever want to pretend I really know them just because I've watched all their movies or seen them dunk a basketball. I'd only feel let down if a pop star, for example, forgot the lyrics to her own song.
