Oh no!

How dare those evil republicans expect women to pay for their own BC and abortions.

Like why can't they get these things for free right?

Birth control isn't a necessary pill for your health. Besides the rare medical reasons a woman might need birth control, the other reasons are entirely due to life style choices. Enjoy as much sex as you want and not have to worry about getting pregnant.

So again besides the few that need it for medical reasons, there no reason why men and women can't purchase their own birth control.

They think they should only have sex if they are trying to have a baby and can afford the baby on their own bootstraps. Society isn't working like that, but I guess they figure if they just keep screaming about abstinence and moral decay, it will eventually sink in. It is the very example of feels over reals. They'll take more teen pregnancy, poor people, orphans, and backalley abortions as long as they can pat themselves on the back about how they don't support "killing babies" and allowing hedonism to corrupt our once moral society. Their views are completely devoid of logic and practicality. They care not for the big picture or any concrete good for society.

While these a ton of shit posting generalizations in this thread; birth control is one I agree insurance should cover. Yes there's ways around it. Like I got a vasectomy after our second son because they were both premature because my wife went into premature labor and it couldn't be stopped both times. My insurance paid like almost 100% of my vasectomy. I think I paid whatever my copay was for the pain pills they prescribed me. Yes birth control and condom are an easier way to prevent pregnancy; and the very least birth control should be covered by insurance. Realistically condoms should as birth control can fuck with women's hormones which is why I used condoms till we wanted kids and a vasectomy when we were done because my wife couldn't take them.

ED drugs are not covered by most insurance plans, and the ones that do give you like four a month and only when a doctor says it's medically necessary.

The interesting thing about the birth control mandate is the $0 copay part. There are NO other drugs (save for vaccinations) for which you will not pay a copay unless you're paying out your ass for the premium or have already spent a ton of money for that year. Additionally, there are very affordable birth control options (certainly affordable for someone who has insurance, at least): my company's pharmacy offers a few generics for $9.99 per month, no insurance involved.

However, birth control is one of those things where I'd wager the cost to society is actually higher when it isn't available to literally everyone.

You know how women are more likely to get fired or get less pay when they have children?

Republicans want more women out of work and staying in the kitchen. Making them more likely to get pregnant, and forcing them to keep the baby, particularly with the additional benefit of making adoption services more inconvenient, forces women to hunker down, find a husband (who they are hoping it's them), and stay in the kitchen while the men take over the work environment. Like the best time of America, the 1950's.

I am, of course, being mostly sarcastic here.
