http://nouvelles.umontreal.ca/en/article/2017/08/07/playing-action-video-games-can-actually-harm-your-brain/
Once their learning strategy was established, participants then began playing the action and 3D-platform video games. The same amount of screen time on each produced very different effects on the brain. Ninety hours of playing action games led to hippocampal atrophy in response learners, while 90 hours of playing 3D games led to increased grey matter within the hippocampal memory system of all participants. not studied: how playing xcom2 made @chill02 into the next nobel prize candidate --- And when the hourglass has run out, eternity asks you about only one thing: whether you have lived in despair or not. ... Interesting study, and unfortunate news for CoD players. I just hope this doesn't spend the next decade being waved in congresses and parliaments around the world as proof that videogames are bad for you and need further regulation.

Always important, and I know I've said this before, to keep in mind that this is simply a measure of overall volume, and can be due to changes in many different factors, such as increased synaptic plasticity, increased glial volume, changes in cell shuttling, changes in neurogenesis, changes in rate of cell death, etc...
More or less, the idea that there's an increase in synaptic plasticity in the major hub of spatial processing when practicing a spatial task isn't too surprising or too important. --- =E[(x-E[x])(y-E[y])] ... Copied to Clipboard!

@COVxy how do I increase my parasmypathetuc system and lower my sympathetic system? That's not really a well formed question and I would not go from general models and scientific theory to individual advice, anyway. --- =E[(x-E[x])(y-E[y])] ... Copied to Clipboard!
