I get this crap on indeed all the time. Theres a lot of janitorial positions that require you to have 2-3 years under your belt but then pay you minimum wage.

It's not too difficult to get a job as a UPS delivery driver. Probably need to work in the warehouse for a year or two then you should have enough seniority to win a bid for the job.
UPS drivers start out around $19/hr and max pay is obtained after 5 years and is about $35/hr. They also get great health benefits. The company is mostly run by garbage people, but it pays well and your job is very secure due to a strong union. --- just tell them all your base doesn't belong to us because we were getting stoned...they'll understand-Ken156 ... That's because the 5 years experience is not set in stone. Apply anyway. They will either call you in for an interview or they won't.

Then you work your way up to driver. And being a driver is awesome which is why people are there for 20-25 years which means driver jobs don't open up often. --- #Free OJ Simpson ... Probably need to work in the warehouse for a year or two then you should have enough seniority to win a bid for the job. Yes I explained that you may have to work in the warehouse for a year or two. I've worked with UPS for over 3 years now. I've seen people win bids to become delivery drivers around the 1 year mark a couple of times. They put up bids for new delivery driver positions a handful of times a year. I know I can pretty much win a bid whenever they post it up next, but I don't want the job at this time. I'm going to school for something else and would only ever accept the position if I already had a degree to fall back on. I wouldn't exactly call being a driver awesome, but it is a well enough paying job. I've talked with plenty of drivers who have had plenty of complaints about the company. There is a very toxic union vs. management culture that causes a lot of problems. The standards of performance are very strict as UPS records literally everything a driver does and every step they take is studied down to a strict science. The job is also really tough on your body. UPS drivers walk around 6-8 miles a day easy moving all of those boxes. It can get way worse than that during certain times of the year like Christmas. But if you want to work as a delivery driver it really isn't the worst route you can take. Especially, if you are having trouble finding work and are in a beggars can't be choosers type of situation --- just tell them all your base doesn't belong to us because we were getting stoned...they'll understand-Ken156 ... Vast majority of drivers close those doors in the colder months. Also, sub zero weather depends on your location. Cold is easier to deal with than heat anyways. It's way easier to heat up with many layers than it is to cool down by removing layers. I'd rather work in the very cold than the very hot, but it really is just a preference thing. --- just tell them all your base doesn't belong to us because we were getting stoned...they'll understand-Ken156 ...
