Anyone into it? I can see why people would not be, as it's not a standard level progression type deal. But this game has a shocking amount of depth and replay-ability to it. We just beat it in one sitting on our channel on normal mode, but once we finished we dove into Hard and Expert and it is insane the balancing act you have to play. Made for really intense gameplay.

When i saw it announced on the snes mini last year I knew it was going to get a mixed opinion. I think people were expecting it to be like Star Fox/64 and its a fair bit different. Its fun though.

Among all the SNES titles on the classic system, Star Fox 2 aged the WORST.

Compared to Star Fox 64, it's unplayable garbage. Star Fox and Star Fox 2 were more impressive as technical feats at the time but as a fun video game today I do not agree.

Star Fox and Star Fox 2 are still pretty fun. Star Fox 64 is obviously way more polished, but Star Fox on the SNES was great and is still very fun.

I kind of view it as Sector Z if it were stretched into a whole game.

Unplayable garbage seems unnecessarily harsh. It has a lot of new systems and ideas that were carried forward to a lot of the newer games. All Range Mode, Star Wolf, Walker/Landmaster inspiration, I really enjoyed seeing all the origins of the stuff we love from SF64 and onwards.

Seriously but I only tried twice. I can get all the way to the boss without being touched and then I collapse when it starts bombarding me. I could use the nova bombs but I was planning to save those.

Just spam the bombs to unlock the game lol. Or abuse the Rewind feature.

I didn't know Star Fox 2 was a departure from the first one.

The stuff transferred over really well to sf64.

The Star Wolf fights are a lot of fun too.

I load up Super Mario World and have fun playing it. No way does it make me feel "Man I rather play Super Mario Bros 3 or Super Mario Galaxy" instead.

I play Star Fox 1/2 and end up hooking up the N64 to play Star Fox 64 instead. The controls feels slow and sluggish. Not saying it's a bad game on its own but compared to the N64 sequel it aged poorly.

The fact that they even pulled off this type of game/physics engine on the SNES is incredible to me.

That sounds like a you problem and not a problem with the game.

Star Fox 64 is fun but sometimes it makes me want to play Star Fox for the SNES.

I think the SNES Star Foxes aged amazingly, a perfect example of what space age retro games should aspire to be.

Does Goldeneye allow you to change your controls to a fake-ish "dual analog" setup?

There are some weird two-controller setups in GoldenEye that let you use dual analogs but the problem there is you can't really reach any buttons but the Z buttons, and you need at least 3 to shoot, switch weapons, and open doors.

The correct controls are 1.2. Aim with the stick, move with the C buttons.

How do you strafe with 1.2? I tried the two controller thing before and it was pretty bad. I have always just used 1.1 and never had a problem with it

I'm assuming the C buttons stage if he's saying that they control all movement.

I used the basic controls back in the day, but I'm sure that would mess with me now.

Left/right C strafe, up C moves forward, down C moves backward. It's like WASD on a keyboard. Stick aims like in a modern game. A player using 1.1 will never beat a player of equal skill using 1.2.
