They sit at home all day trying to remain relevant - and so they read every document with a fine tooth comb, and go after people who hang a four leaf clover on their door. I take care of my property - as does my next door neighbor. We both mow and take care of our lawns, and if you do the research before you buy the property (aka - check out the status of the neighborhood) you won't have to worry about how your neighbors are taking care of things. The only thing I have to get done (next year prob) is have my drive-way re-paved. That was the only thing that needed to be "updated" to the outside property. I would only join a HOA when I'm really old.
