Current Events > XCOM peeps: How boned am I? *spoilers*

Most of North and South America are one step away from defecting, parts of Asia are in bad shape, almost all of my non-rookie soldiers are hospitalized for a week or so, I just unlocked the storyline mission where you craft the Skeleton Key to invade an alien base, and the Slingshot DLC mission where you invade a battleship spawned. How fucked am I? I'm in a situation where I'm basically guaranteed to lose at least one contient, I'll need to delay the story mission, and I'll need to either send rookies on the battleship mission unless I can wait til people heal up. Regardless, as soon as the next terror or UFO mission spawns I'm gonna be out of healed soldiers.

Not sure how it got to this. First month of the game was a cakewalk, but as soon as month two started I got 6 missions back to back with no breaks in between. I've been trying to balance the abduction missions to keep any one place from going up too much but its not working. I'm trying to get more satelites up but I literally JUST NOW got enough engineers to build a second sat comm room. I still have 13 days before it finishes building >_>;

Oh my fucking christ, why in the NINE HELLS does Steam make it so fucking hard to find goddamn screen shots taken on your fucking computer? I've literally spent the last fucking 30 minutes beating my head against a wall trying to get these screen shots. Can't just fucking PrintScreen, that'd be too easy. Just takes a blank ss. Fucking Valve and their useless shit

How do you end up with that many wounded soldiers though? I never had more than 2-3 wounded. You need to play more carefully, because you will either not be able to respond to alerts anymore, or only send rookies which will en up wounded or dead.

More concerned about all the downed soldiers than the countries. I don't like that I'm in a position where I'm looking at potentially having literally zero soldiers in fighting condition soon, as well as having my A squad downed for two high value missions

The fact that it's your first time and haven't a single member yet is pretty good tbh. Losing 1 or 2 isn't desirable, but not the end of the world.

How do you end up with that many wounded soldiers though? I never had more than 2-3 wounded. You need to play more carefully, because you will either not be able to respond to alerts anymore, or only send rookies which will en up wounded or dead.

Honestly, I'm not sure either. I was having like one person injured per mission tops. The problem was I got 6 missions in 12 days, so no time for healing in between. Last mission was a Difficult+ abduction mission to keep some country from straight up defecting and two people went down, one critically and one from losing like 7 HP (heavy so he had 12 max lol). Now I'm like "Hey XCOM, pump the fucking breaks a sec, let a guy catch his goddamn breath". Just trying to knock out some Fast researches and getting fucked by UFO crashes and abductions >_>;

Literally just click View > Screenshots (or close the game and it will open automatically if you took any screenshots) and then click Show on Disk. They are immediately saved to your hard drive and accessible as soon as you take them. However, they are buried in a deep folder tree in your userdata folder. You can upload them with Steam if you want to share them through Steam instead of through another site.

oh noes they took his scientists and they're killing everyone (if in the path of the UFO crashes they cant drive good).

This is why I liked the Long War mod for XCom, it gives you a way to get back countries after they've gone dark, albeit with very difficult missions.

Thinking I may start over. Not because I'm discouraged by the current game setup, more to adjust some of the things I did early game. Think I'd rather start somewhere besides Europe and make some different early game choices. I clearly overestimated how many scientists I'd need early and underestimated how many engineers I'd need. I also spent money very poorly
