Did you find Hestu there? What's your inventory capacity looking like? Not sure how you've been doing with Koroks.

Also did you ever find the Horned Goddess Statue?

Yeah, I found Hestu. I've been able to expand my inventory several times already. I'm at the point where I need 8 seeds to expand my weapon inventory again.

not sure if I was supposed to find some sort of Horned Goddess statue, but I've been doing the Korok trials now and I've finished two of them

Tailing that Korok all the way to the shrine was annoying.

If you've just been expanding your melee weapon space so far it's probably worth knowing that each slot's price is independent ( so picking up a cheap bow slot or two might be worth it).

Horned Statue is something completely separate, though tangentially related to your current situation. Can give a hint if you like.

Tailing the Korok gave me more trouble than anything else in the game. Holy shit why was it so hard.

Yeah, I expanded the other two a couple of times once I ran out of seeds to expand weapon inventory.

The hardest part of the Korok tailing thing was when the wolf appeared because I didn't realize you had to kill the wolf at first to continue, and I literally couldn't see where the Korok was during that sequence because the grass was so tall, so I kept getting spotted trying to find him.

Found another memory spot. This time, Zelda is using the Sheikah Slate to take pictures of flora and fauna, expressing her admiration for the various wildlife. Then she catches a frog and starts going on a fangirl rant about its potential benefits and tries to get Link to just eat it alive to test out her theory. That was a really enjoyable scene because it's one of the rare ones so far where we don't have Zelda going emo about her circumstances at any point.

Also, I'd say Breath of the Wild is probably on pace to become my favorite Zelda game. This isn't as big of an achievement as it would be for most people since I'm not a huge Zelda fan, but I've really enjoyed it so far. I think Twilight Princess is the only Zelda game I beat continuously without taking a massive break from it at some point due to disinterest.

Got to a sidequest Shrine in a way I'm pretty sure I wasn't supposed to, but oh well. There was one in a cave a freezing cold river runs through, and I climbed from behind it in the place where the river empties out into a bigger river. However, just a little earlier, I tracked a Shrine signal to a closed door that I couldn't figure out how to open, so I pinned it with a plan to come back later. Looking at a map afterwards makes me think that was the Shrine that door led to.

Found another memory spot. Looks like Zelda is trying to figure out how to use the Sheikah Slate to open the Shrines, but supposedly only the wielder of the Master Sword can open it. She hopes there's a way of working around designs. Right on cue, Link shows up, only for Zelda to get all huffy at him because she doesn't think she needs an escort, no matter what her father says. Zelda also apparently believes she's the only free thinker in Hyrule because everyone else just follows orders and fits into their assigned role.

This is why I said I had conflicting memories of The Calix in Zestiria. Some of them are perfectly fine. Others are complete hellscapes that should not exist. It all depends on the enemy-types in them.

Tales of Berseria:

Well, things just got low-key darker a lot. A bunch of the little details on the side regarding Innominat's domain taking away free will and imposing reason got a lot darker than I expected. Loegres is a goddamn nightmare if you look around. There's a bunch of kids in one area with some dogs laying on the ground. You can talk to a kid, and he says that now that the dogs are so hungry they can't move they can finally eliminate them before he starts trying to fight the mind control. like holy ****. Then at the Bloodwing Tavern if you try to go upstairs the room is locked off and there's one Bloodwing girl saying a bunch of the others "repented" in that room and that she's next before breaking down crying for her mother.

Oh and we fought Aifread. He was a bro. Also bizarrely had a normal attack with almost no windup that seemed to hit notably harder than his Mystic Arte. That was weird. and terrifying to deal with. And after wondering for a while when the game would give me Chaos mode it finally did, of course it then decides to throw Shigure at me soon after. Pretty fun fight though. Especially cool how Rokurou would counter his Mystic Arte if he was an active member of the team. Speaking of, the very first time it came at me unblocked it did some crazy damage and effectively wiped my party. It never did that again the few times I let it through (retried a few times) after. Which was also weird.

Meirchio (hereafter "Snow Town" because I won't remember that spelling and even though there are literally 2 other snow towns) was pretty cool. The animated scene with Velvet and Laphicet was great when Velvet was telling Laphicet about the probable repercussions of the mission.

Also getting the sense that a lot of the Magilou/Melchior stuff might go unexplained simply because Velvet just trolled her the one time she was serious enough to explain. I stopped right after I beat Shigure though (well I walked forward an area to the Save Point where the dungeon became a real volcano and got new music.) Next time I should get Melchior (unless things go terribly wrong) who is graciously sticking around for us to devour even though he's called Velvet's bluff. What a pal!

oh right I keep forgetting to rank S. Links/Confidants so let's do that right now while I'm thinking about it

I'm going to rank them by Arcana.

Fool: N/A

I dunno that there's any real way to rank this one since they're all just plot-progression based, and even the P5 one doesn't really have any story or relationship building to it. It just gives you new abilities.

Magician: Yosuke > Morgana > Kenji

This one's pretty clear-cut. Yosuke's is pretty good. Morgana's is okay, and Kenji's is not so good.

Priestess: Yukiko > Makoto > Fuuka

I actually really like all of these, even Fuuka's. I guess part of it is that I tend to like the character tropes associated with this Arcana. They're all just really good character and relationship building S. Links.

Empress: Mitsuru > Haru > Margaret

Another one that's pretty easy to rank. Mitsuru's one of the best, but Haru's is good, too. Margaret's is kinda whatever, but it has its moments.

Emperor: Yusuke > Kanji > Hidetoshi

Yusuke's is one of my favorites because it just does crazy stuff and produces a lot of laughs, whether it's literally going into Mementos to paint or doing crucifixion poses in a church. Kanji's is good, too, because it helps him come to grips with who he really is. Hidetoshi is P3's "really bad at first but becomes good by the end" S. Link.

Hierophant: Dojima > Sojiro > Bunchiki/Mitsuko

This is a weird one because you've got two undeniably top tier ones and a low tier one, perhaps the most utterly forgettable one in the series.

Lovers: Rise > Yukari > Ann

Rise's is one of the best. Yukari's and Ann's both strike me as ones that failed to live up to their potential, which is a shame.

Chariot: Chie > Ryuji > Kazushi

These are all above average, but I don't think any of them are top tier.

Justice: Nanako > Akechi > Chihiro

Easy to rank, because Nanako is a top tier, Akechi is a mid-tier, and Chihiro is a low tier.

Hermit: Maya > Futaba > Fox

Two top tiers and a practically non-existent one. It was tough to pick between Maya and Futaba for the better one, but the gradual unveiling of who Maya really is as well as her actual identity was one of my favorite parts of P3.

Fortune: Naoto > Chihaya > Keisuke

I'm not a huge fan of Naoto overall, but her S. Link is fun because of all the mystery surrounding it. Chihaya's is P5's "Bad at first but good at the end" one. Keisuke is P3's "bad at first and bad at the end" one.

Strength: Yuko > Kou > Justine/Caroline > Daisuke

I have a soft spot for Yuko because she was my first romance S. Link that I completed. Kou's is really enjoyable, too. The Twins is pretty funny at times, although Caroline's overbearing personality is a bit much at others. Daisuke is just whatever.

Hanged Man: Maiko > Iwai > Naoki

Maiko's resonated with me on a personal level because I could completely relate to everything she was going though. She also gets bonus points for being the only character to make a Persona protagonist do a glowing blush in any game. Iwai's is pretty good, and Naoki's is P4's "Bad at first but good by the end" S. Link, so they're all above average here.

Death: Takemi > Hisano > Pharos

This one is pretty straightforward. Takemi's is really good, Hisano's is pretty good, and Pharos is kinda creepy.

Temperance: Kawakami > Bebe > Eri

A weird one because we have one undeniably top tier one and two undeniably bottom tier ones.

Devil: Tanaka > Sayoko > Ohya

While I love the narm charm of Tanaka's Amazing Commodities, his S. Link isn't that great. These are all a little below average but not outright bad.

Tower: Mutatsu > Shu > Shinya

We've got a high tier and two lower tier ones here. I did enjoy the last couple ranks of Shu's, especially the one where the party gets together to throw him a birthday party, so that gives it an edge over Shinya and his GET SMOKED hat.

Star: Hifumi > Teddie > Mamoru

I liked Hifumi's a good bit. The other two are decent but nothing special.

Moon: Mishima > Ai > Nozomi

This Arcana, man. I'd probably put Ai first if I counted her P4 the Animation adaptation because that episode is so good, because it actually follows the bad ending of the S. Link where Narukami dates her for a bit and then she breaks up with him. Plus, he's completely whipped and afraid of her (including having Catherine's "Love is Over" as her ringtone), and Chie and Ai have a catfight at one point. Oh right, and Nozomi is the worst S. Link, hands down.

Sun: Akinari > Yoshida > Yumi > Ayane

The P3 and P5 ones are high tier, and both P4 ones are lower tier.

Aeon/Judgment/Jester: Marie > Aigis > Adachi > Sae

These are all pretty good. It feels like the games give special emphasis to these unorthodox Arcanas, and it shows.

Agreed:

Magician: Yosuke > Morgana > Kenji
Empress: Mitsuru > Haru > Margaret
Hierophant: Dojima > Sojiro > Bunchiki/Mitsuko
Lovers: Rise > Yukari > Ann
Chariot: Chie > Ryuji > Kazushi
Hermit: Maya > Futaba > Fox
Justice: Nanako > Akechi > Chihiro
Temperance: Kawakami > Bebe > Eri
Star: Hifumi > Teddie > Mamoru
Moon: Mishima > Ai > Nozomi
Sun: Akinari > Yoshida > Yumi > Ayane
Aeon/Judgment/Jester: Marie > Aigis > Adachi > Sae

With the caveat that I think Yukari's link is a lot better than you seem to be saying. Probably a bunch of other little tweaks like that, but yeah.

Disagree:

Priestess: Yukiko > Makoto > Fuuka

Switch Makoto and Yukiko. Even though Makoto's link isn't really her strong suit (that late link where she talks about her dad is almost taunting in a "what could have been" way) her character is strong enough to carry her above Yukiko.

Emperor: Yusuke > Kanji > Hidetoshi

Switch Kanji and Yusuke. Yusuke's link is great (and funny as you point out. lmao that church scene), Kanji's got one of the all-time best, so I have to give him those props.

Fortune: Naoto > Chihaya > Keisuke

*Unpopular opinion siren*

Think I switch Naoto and Chihaya here. I really liked Chihaya and her link while Naoto's link is pretty great (especially the mystery parts like you said) I'm not the biggest fan of the romance path version. It's optional, but yeah.

Strength: Yuko > Kou > Justine/Caroline > Daisuke

Definitely switch Yuko and Kou. Kou's link is low-key pretty great. Not sure if I keep the switch going and then have Yuko place under the Twins. I think I do, but it's close. Speaking of mysteries, I kind of liked the growing mystery in the Twins' link as they try to figure out what's going on. However, yeah, Caroline can be a bit grating at times with her attitude.

Hanged Man: Maiko > Iwai > Naoki

Switch Maiko and Iwai. Iwai has one of the top links in the games.

Death: Takemi > Hisano > Pharos

*Unpopular opinion siren again*

Think I put Pharos at the top. I'm a sucker for cryptic conversations and the like that run throughout his link. Pharos v Takemi a bit tough though.

Devil: Tanaka > Sayoko > Ohya

Ohya somehow the best link here, but I don't like Tanaka or especially Sayoko's links. Ohya's actually isn't that bad. Sayoko's would be in the running (but not win) for worst in the games for me.

Tower: Mutatsu > Shu > Shinya

Switch Shu and Shinya. Shu also a link I didn't really like. Shinya's was pretty alright so that's enough here.

Finished up with the Rito Divine Beast! That was surprisingly simple, both the dungeon itself and the boss. Beat him on the first try and Mipha's Grace didn't even activate! Man, Revali is such a preening schmo up to the very end, even attributing Link's success to a ridiculously high luck stat.

Anyway, I suppose Death Mountain is the next stop eventually. I assume the Goron town has the equipment I need to prevent myself from spontaneously bursting into flames there. It was nice to finally get a full set of cold weather gear at Rito Village. I might have come here second if I had known!

And the Master Sword is mine! We get a quick scene of Zelda placing the Master Sword in its pedestal 100 years before. She looks roughed up and the Master Sword is in bad shape, and she says that Link's already been put into hibernation, so this must be post-defeat.

So this is super effective against CALAMITY GANON and presumably against the Divine Beast bosses, too, but it's pretty average otherwise in terms of strength.

Then she stops and asks Link how proficient he's become with the Master Sword, mockingly calling him "hero." It's interesting that Zelda didn't really seem to like or respect Link much at the first.

I like that the memories are arranged chronologically in the Adventure Log. I'll have to re-watch them all once I get them all compiled. I've only got three spots left to find now. There are five spots left in the memories thing, but I imagine the other two will be unlocked as part of the main story.

And depending on when his Mystic Arte would go off more bad things could happen. Eizen is knocked over by a light breeze so Magilou took over for him most of the fight. In theory her Break Arte could cancel Gravity Well in practice it never happened when I wanted it to. Got fortunate on the attempt I won because once he hit about 30% HP I just kept inflicting stuns so I could keep him essentially locked by spamming Velvet's Break Soul to keep an indefinite combo up. Almost blew it at the end when it finally dropped at like 2% HP but crisis was averted.

Looks like a billion sidequests opened/are ready to continue so it looks like I'll be going everywhere except where I'm supposed to.

Yamada was by far the best.

The focus on Inami made me sad, because she doesn't have much for good comedy. I feel like the show in general re-used way too many jokes as it went along too. Was quite a bit more creative at the start.
