I see people complaining IT having obvious jumpscares. Personally I loved that they were telegraphed so you could get creeped out, instead of just reacting to loud sounds and quick images.

You lame people that want sudden loud sounds and quick images that come sudden is the reason the horror genre is shit

I'm not scared during the build up. I'm just impatient waiting for the payoff at the end of the rising music. That's what I hate about jump scares, there's no atmosphere to them because it's literally just waiting for a timer to go off.

To this day my favorite jump scare was in the movie "Hush."

Deaf woman is slowly realizing something is off. The audience knows the killer is playing with her. Slow pan to the scenery behind her as she turns around and...

the killer is just standing there.

Yeah, that one was of the few examples in the movie on how to do a SHIT jumpscare, cheap and not even scary, just reacting to sound and quick image.

I'd rather that they do it unannounced instead of building it up if they are going for a jumpscare.

If you realize its coming, then you have ample time to "prepare" for it. I can say as an avid fan of horror, jump scares don't work well that way. I can call them from a mile away and when they happen I don't even flinch. The only times that a jumpscare will actually get me is if it is during a "oh there's going to be a jumpscare" and then they fake you out and don't have one, only to have one after all the tension is gone, or if they do it out of the blue.


Jumpscares suck anyways though.

That was my issue with the film. I liked it but there were a bunch of jump scares and they made it painfully obvious when they were coming, so when they did come, it did nothing for me.

If anything they are surprising, but they aren't scary. They don't stick with you, they don't last.

I'm not fanboying, the movie has flaws, but the scares weren't one of them except the few times they used the unexpected crappy cliche horror movie jump scares.

Long, dragged out scenes that spoonfeed the fact to you that they're going to end with a jump scare are the worst things a horror movie can have. Much worse than an out of the blue jump scare.
