For a product that's not even announced at the time of this writing.

Certifiably insane.

What is different about this $1000 model than the regular one. My phone is about 5 years old and I want to buy the new iPhone, but I ain't spending that kind of money if the only difference between models is the size.

Some of these people will just resell the phone at crazy prices.

You can also make a ton of money standing in line for people. Look it up.

A lot has changed since 5 years ago. Now they have the guts to remove basic functionality and charge even more for overpriced accessories to replace that functionality. Truly courageous of them, imo.

In australia you can drive 200km in any direction, find some rural-ish town and find plenty of iphones at the local telstra or whatever store is there. No need to wait 10 days in line

Pros and cons both ways
Its good to stick with a phone for the full 2 years every once in a while so you have a semi-modern backup for emergancies

I get to keep my previous phone.

Basically my company handed me an iPhone 6 last year and told me to throw it away. It still worked so it was odd that they said toss it and so I just traded it in at an insane value to feasibly get an iPhone 7 Plus (I proceeded to fuck this up and ruin my trade deal but that's neither here nor there; I can probably avoid that this time by being smart).

So doing this has now made it possible for me to upgrade every year, as my old phone will go out of style as soon as the next model launches. My dad gets to use the previous model (which is basically backwards to how it works in most families). It just relies on how nice Verizon wants to be.

There is always a shortage of inventory at release. I doubt low population areas will even have the phones at launch at all. If you know they'll be sold before they even hit shelves somewhere else why send it to areas with low traffic? Besides the traffic people in rural communities aren't the demographic.

I don't know I can't really imagine that. I've also never been to Australia though.

Telstra isn't even a thing in America.

My point is that it doesn't make sense rural communities would even have the iPhone. Doesn't make sense they'd even have a tech store.

Obviously very rural towns themselves dont. There are lots of small "cities" in rural australia that are basically hubs. These get new phone models and never sell out. It makes no sense to just sell in the city and not country wide.

Surely america has, like, Verizon stores or something

Not in rural communities. They don't even get good cell service out there.

If you live in one of those areas generally in the US you gotta drive into the city.

X has over the iP8:

-Larger screen
-Amoled screen with HDR
-FacecID instead of TouchID
-OIS on front cam

Not worth the $300 premium imo.
